I think by the time a woman reaches her 40s a pony tail isn’t all that flattering. That’s when the boots and the glasses come into play.

When I see one of those I say “Look, she’s pony-tailin’”. Pony-tailin’ is my coined term for her taking her 'tail for a stroll, all decorated up with a hat. (And usually shorts & a tight T-shirt / sports bra)
