There’s a voice often used as a “bystander” voice, from a crowd or a guy on the street or whatever.
Examples:
When Homer became morbidly obese for workmans comp, and tried to see a movie but was denied a seat, the voice in the crowd said “Hey fatty! I got a movie for you! ‘A Fridge Too Far!’”
When Homer decided to become an inventor and shouted it to the world from his bedroom, the same voice (but maybe not the same guy) said “How about inventing yourself some underpants!”
When Marge went to jail for accidently shoplifting from the Quickie Mart, the kids cleaned up the house by sweeping everything under the carpet. The voice was under the carpet, saying something like “Hey, watch it!” when Bart walked on him.
Is this voice consistantly used with a character? Does the character have a name, even an informal one?
We were just talking about him in another thread. We don’t know if it’s the same man, or a number of guys who sound the same. Fans call him “Sarcastic Man,” and I believe the voice is based on Charles Bronson.
According to this list at SNPP, the “fridge too far” comment is attributed to “Sarcastic Middle-Aged Man.” From the episode summaries, though, that quote is attributed to “Bystander” and the “invent yourself some underpants” is attributed to “Man”.
Sorry, I just noticed that the “Sarcastic Middle-Aged Man” file also includes the mis-quote “Invent yourself some underwear!” so that would be him, too, I guess.
Clerk: “Uh, this little guy writes mysteries under the name of J. D. McGregor.”
Lisa: “How can a hamster write mysteries?”
Clerk: “Well, he gets the ending first, then he writes backward.”
As a mechanic: It’s your heart, and I’m afraid it’s on its last beat!!!
As an exterminator with a different voice:Milhouse is here no more!!
Then he takes off his mask and hood and you hear his normal voice: He went to his Grandmother’s!!
Bart: Did he have a paper with him?
Exterminator: Oh you never forget a thing like that!
