Simpsons Treehouses of Horrors

In honor of Halloween, and to help me decide what Treehouse of Horror episodes to throw in the DVD player tonight, what are some of your favorite Treehouse of Horror segments/quotes/scenes?

One of my favorite segments is when Homer turns their toaster into a time traveling device and keeps inadvertantly creating alternate universes:

Homer: As long as I stand perfectly still and don’t touch anything, I won’t destroy the future.
[Mosquito flies in and Homer swats at it]
Homer: Stupid bug! You go squish now!
[Homer sets off a chain of events that create a Ned Flanders-run universe, a universe that rains donuts, and a universe where Groundskeeper Willie is killed by Maggie with an ax.]

Or the one with the evil Krusty the Clown doll:

Creepy shop owner: Take this object, but beware, it carries a terrible curse.
Homer: Ooooh, that’s bad.
Creepy shop owner: But it comes with a free Frogurt!
Homer: That’s good!
Creepy shop owner: The Frogurt is also cursed.
Homer: That’s bad.
Creepy shop owner: But you get your choice of topping!
Homer: That’s good!
Creepy shop owner: The toppings contains Potassium Benzoate.
[Homer stares blankly.]
Creepy shop owner: That’s bad.
Homer: Can I go now?

Time and Punishment might be my favorite, too, but I also love the one with Willie as Freddie Kreuger. And there’s King Homer:

“Hey, I heard we’re going to Ape Island!”
“Yeah, to capture a giant ape. I wish we were going to Candy Apple Island instead.”
“Candy Apple Island? What’ve they got there?”
“Apes. But they’re not so big.”

In fact, watch all three stories from ToH III. I’d also recommend The Shinning.

From the Monkey’s Paw episode:

Kang, or Kodos, not sure: “That board with a nail in it may have defeated us, but the humans won’t stop there…they’ll build bigger boards with bigger nails, one day they will build a board with a nail so big it will DESTROY THEM ALL!!!”
much tentacle waving and diabolocal laughter

That, and the entire Raven segment. “Take thy BEAK from OUT MY HEART, and take thy FORM from OFF MY DOOR!”

“. . .will withstand a 6 megatron bomb. No more. No less.”

I agree with the OP, the one with Homer turning his toaster into a time machine was just great. I loved the sequence where you see the Simpsons’ house quickly transformed into several different shapes, including a Sphinx with Bart’s face.

And the one where it turns out that Maggie is a little alien baby, the result of Kang and Kodos’s, er, probing of Marge. “Aw, gee, look at the time, I’ve got an early meeting tomorrow…” ::booting Marge out of the flying saucer:: I also like seeing Maggie crawling up the walls and across the ceiling.

New TOH this Sunday. Woo-hoo!

I can’t believe it. Jerry Springer didn’t solve our problems.

I liked the Clinton/Dole one.

I also liked the one where Bart reads people’s mind, but probably because it was my favourite Twlight Zone Episode too

This is my favorite as well, particularly that scene. I have found many uses for Maggie’s quote from that: “This is, indeed, a disturbing universe.”

How come I hardly ever see the one where Homer makes a deal with the devil to trade his soul for a donut?

  • Don’t eat, Daddy’s soul donut"*

Was there a controversial storyline in it?

“Don’t blame me – I voted for Kodos!”

“Don’t Blame me, I voted for Kodos”

I’ll pick “The Shinning”, with Groundskeeper Willie gettin’ killed all over.
:smack:

Mmmm, forbidden donut…

The “Time Toaster” one is my all-time favorite, and the Clinton-Dole one is a solid second.

You just can’t beat “Hmm…family rich, children obedient, sisters-in-law dead…can I have a donut?” “What’s a donut?” “Aaah! (runs to leave universe via toaster)” “Oh, look, it’s raining again.”

I loved the one where Homer discovers the third dimension and passes by the library from Myst while he’s there.

Also the gun control one was decent: “I declare this town utterly defenseless!”

Does anyone have favorites that are from the last five years or so? I haven’t been watching.

Search me. The local Fox affiliate has been showing every Treehouse, in order, over the last week or two as preparation for this year’s entry.

Oh, and I liked the Orson Welles War of the Worlds-parody “The Day the Earth Looked Stupid” from last year.

Lawless: … but I’m sure that once girls get to know the real you, you’ll get plenty of dates. Next question.
[hands go up. She picks Frink]
Frink: Yes, over here, n’hey, n’hey. In episode BF12, you were battling arbarians while riding a winged Appaloosa, yet in the very next scene, my dear, you’re clearly atop a winged Arabian. Please do explain it.
Lawless: Ah, yeah, well, whenever you notice something like that, a wizard did it.
Frink: I see, all right, yes, but in episode AG4 –
Lawless: Wizard.
Frink: [under breath] Aw, for glaven out loud.

I’m also a big fan of “Night of the Dolphin”.

“Snorky … talk … man …
ahem. Let me start over. Eons ago…”

It was on a few days ago in syndication. The show’s been on so goddamn long that they can pretty much play an entire month of Halloween episodes now.

Another vote for the Maggie being Kang’s daughter segment (IX).

“To put you at ease, we have recreated the most common spawning locations of your species. You may choose either the back seat of a Camaro, an airplane bathroom, a friend’s wedding, or the alley behind a porno theater.”

“Oh, you look lovely this evening. Have you decreased in mass?”
“Look behind you.”

“Yeah, I got a question for that gross thing, whatever it is.”
“Homer.”
“Nah, the green dude.”

“I’m so [bleep] embarrassed.”

“Don’t forget Ken Starr!”

I forgot about that episode. There was a Family Guy episode where Y2K resulted in essentially the end of the world, and Stewie (the baby) winds up mutated with octopus-like legs. Yet another example of why people say FG rips off The Simpsons… Except in FG the Stewie octopus creature lays a bunch of eggs and takes over the unarmed town (the got rid of all their guns) with his offspring.
