I’ve not kept up with the Sims 3 expansions, haven’t got enough cash to be strung along. On screenshots, you can get a program called Fraps which’ll save all your screenshots in one folder.
Rock star is already in the game… it’s under music or whatever the music career is called. You can choose halfway through either symphonic or rock music and have concerts all the time for various thousands a pop. I know because I’m halfway through an eventual rock star.
I’m looking forward to this expansion – World Adventures was outstanding and made The Sims a lot more fun, breaking the model of ‘Here is some new stuff’ and adding functionality and new levels of gameplay (sheesh, I sound like advertising copy). Looking forward to Ambitions doing the same thing.
A caution about Rock Star. One of the primary challenges available once you master Music/Rock Star is bugged, and is virtually impossible to achieve. This is the one that challenges you to play ten venues, and is rewarded with big money for future performances. You’re not likely to see this benefit.
Inventing seems really neat so far – I’ve played it for a few minutes – but then I burned to death. There’s really no way to extinguish yourself if you live alone without a pool, and apparently hammering on pieces of scrap is an extreme fire hazard.
Mkay.
Little sad that the character I spent all that time making is gone, but them’s the breaks, I guess?
Only had a bathtub. Didn’t think of jumping in it until too late. I thought it was like old-fire where you couldn’t do anything; new-fire lets you act for an in-game hour. Which is really plenty of time – call the fire department, jump in the pool. But I learned “stop drop and roll”, why didn’t my Sim?
Anyway. Restored her from backup – she’s saved, so I just put her in her old house with her old inventions, is that ghoulish?. Continued down inventor track. Got all the inventions so far (it’s a little disappointing that there aren’t about fifty kazillion more widgets) but haven’t gotten the big opportunity chain at the end yet. However, I did invent the…
time machine. And I went back in time and forward in time a few times. On one of my trips back in time I brought back my own daughter. She has no father, just my character as a mother. My inventor was saving up to go to Egypt for an opportunity, and now she’s toiling away in the basement making harvesters and mining her plot of land for gems and metal just to make sure she can afford a better home for her daughter. This swamp house is all right for a crazy inventor on her own, but is it really the right place to raise a family?
Is anyone else having trouble selling their widgets and other things? I can’t get the Buy interaction to work, and the cash register doesn’t have any options (only a faded Browse option when the shop is closed…).
It doesn’t help that the Sims 3 forum has been down for days…
Up until this expansion, I’ve always been able to run the game without inserting the disc, simply by getting around the launcher by making a shortcut to the .exe file.
Suddenly, with this expansion, I’m prompted to insert the disc. Bummer.
In the consignment shop? You have to hit the Consign tab. It didn’t give me a problem, but anything you sell in there doesn’t count toward income for the Inventing profession.
Got it yesterday and started with Architectural Designer. You get a budget to furnish other sims’s homes! If only downloadables didn’t crash my game-- I’d get all kinds of cool stuff to decorate other people’s homes with.
I’m wondering though, what gives good reviews and bad. I think a hint was when one of my customers said, “I like all the little decorative touches you put in” even though I did no such thing.
I meant a Rock Star profession. I hear that there are also new Medical Career paths and choices but, again, at first I was looking for a medical “profession” before I realized there ain’t none.
Partial kinda semi hijack. I succumbed last week and bought sims3. The ambitions expansion looks cool, and I’ll probably get it, but what does World Adventures bring?
I bought the vacation pack for sims2, but it seemed more of a distraction than an expansion to the original game.
