Sims 3 Questions on houses and expansion

Is there a way to keep specific things when moving and selling the rest? It doesn’t seem possible to manually put things in the family inventory.

Can I build houses on empty lots without first having a family to put in it? I’d like to beef up the stock of houses in both the available towns.

Sims 3 World Adventures? What IS it? Is it like Vacation waaay back in 2? Because I hated Vacation and it added nothing to the game for me.

  1. Yes, you can put specific things in the family inventory. Just go into buy mode, open the family inventory tag ang drag furniture or whatever into it.

  2. Yes, you just have to be in the edit town mode (in options), and then use the build/buy tool on the empty plot.

  3. It looks like Vacation, but it has three recognisable places (Egypt, France, China), your Sims will get quests to do, which will grant them rewards, and some new skills (photography, "nectar"making and martial arts) can only be learned in appropriate destinations.

And going to Egypt can result in a Sim becoming a living mummy.

Hmmm. I must be doing something wrong because stuff refuses to be dragged into my family inventory.

The edit town mode can be accessed from the main menu, or do I have to pick a sim before the town can be edited?

I went and checked to see if my memory was working all right.

To put something in the family inventory click on it, once, move it to the inventory, and then click again.

Have successfully placed a car, a fridge, a sofa and a dishwasher there just a minute ago.
You can edit a new town without choosing a sim. When editing an existing town you will automatically go to the family you played last, but you can then go to the edit town mode.

Remember that if you then decide to choose a different family, the previous family will lose lifetime rewards and points.

Ah, click and release! I’ve been trying to drag stuff in like I do with the regular inventory.

Thank you!
