Sims2 is Here! [unboxed Spoilers!]

Of course!! I’m totally and hopelessly addicted. My Sims think they live in Peyton Place and vacation in Fernwood, Ohio.

I was still playing until someone went onto my laptop and killed my sims.

I am very much thinking of backing up my sims now. I do have a dvd rw so it should not be too difficult.

I’m still completely addicted to this game. My last surprise from it came the night before last. My Sim Hollie Tanner was a twins, and I know that twins can be genetic, so I wasn’t totally surprised when she had her own set. What suprised me was that they were green. Both Hollie and her hubby Justin are white. The green came from Hollie’s mother who was the alien child of Pascal Curious. I had no idea the green skin could skip a generation. That’s so cool! Hollie now has four children, two white and two green. She aspires to have ten. I may indulge her, I’m curious to see how the family’s genes develop. Her Romance husband isn’t likely to be happy about it.

Has anyone had a go at the Legacy Challenge? Link here - be warned that it’s a big page and might be a killer on a slow connection. In a nutshell, you raise ten generations of one family according to the rules and score based on things like the number of NPCs that marry into your family and how much wealth you amass, and you aren’t allowed to use cheats.

Oh, yes! I’m into generation 3 right now, but I can’t imagine how I’ll ever get through 10 generations. The partriarch of generation 1 died (of starvation, of all things, and I didn’t even want that to happen, it just did!), but his wife is still kicking around helping raise her grandkids. Good thing too, because the child I chose to keep in the challenge is a horrible parent and her husband isn’t much better.

What’s a little wierd is that before I heard of this challenge, I started something similar on my own in a separate neighborhood, and since both are using the townies and NPCs, I sometimes get really confused as to what neighborhood I’m playing and exactly who is who.

Has all that stopped me though? No

This might have been discussed considering how many pages there are on this thread, but I was just too lazy to search for it. My apologies.

I was just wondering how long it took anyone else to actually get their man abducted from aliens. I’ve had the Sims 2 for almost as long as it’s been out but just recently tried to get abducted. I haven’t gotten any luck yet, and I’ve been looking through the telescope from 10 PM to 1 AM quite a few times.

So how many times did it take for anyone else to get abducted? Or am I just not doing it correctly?

Get the most expensive telescope and put it on the highest level of the home that you can. That will greatly improve your odds of getting an alien abduction. A male who gets abducted will always get pregnant with an alien baby.

Also, go to the store and buy a sci-fi magazine (IIRC, that’s the one. It may be the paranormal one though). Have your sim read it until his interest bar in that subject is full. Mine was abducted on the first try, and he was using the 'scope from his front lawn.

Oh, and I think abduction hours are between 2am and 7am. But I’m not 100% positive on that without looking.

I was thinking the abduction hours are from 7p to 2a, but looking it up on the Sims2 BBS, I found this thread, which says as late as 3:30a.
It has a lot more info about abductions too, but it’s all someone’s observations they had been documenting so YMMV.

Apparently (and unsurprisingly) I got it backwards

Hey! The first expansion pack has been announced!

I like how it’s going to add “Young Adult” to the life stages.
And you get pillow fights and ramen noodles and stuff! :stuck_out_tongue:

Speaking of “young adults” I don’t like how the parents look just the same as their grown up children.
That’s why I downloaded some wrinkle type face paints and use them for the middle agers.
I use the wrinkles that came with the game for the elders as they progress.
Now I need some “graying” hair to complete the mid-life crises appearance.

Which reminds me; my kids always end up looking the same as each other - the boys look almost identical to each other, etc., to the point that I can scarcely tell them apart. Is that just my luck, or does that seem to be pretty common?

Pretty gosh darned common…just as soon as they pass the toddler phase, I send them straight to a mirror for alterations.
I am having a problem getting clothes on my boys. I went down town, spent a few K on clothes for my boys, but when they go to change into them they’re nude!
Admittedly it’s just one house so far.
I wish it would vary the clothes they transition into. All of my boys in the Johnson household have that same green shirt and blue jeans outfit when they turn into kids, even if I have bought other outfits in the past.

One disappointing note: I thought I had finally had my first set of identical twin boys, until they turned into children and then major differences showed up. :frowning:
So far all of my twins except for them had been boy-girl.

I got this game for Christmas and am more frustrated by the fact everytime I try to actually do anything with my families the stupid program crashes. I can build houses and “move” the characters into them, but the actual characters won’t move or do any of the interactions that I try to make them do (i.e., they won’t go to the sofa, walk anywhere, etc.). I downloaded the patch from the website but the problem keeps on happening.

First, make sure any anti-virus programs are disabled. (If you’re not on the internet you should be fine.) ctrl+alt+del and close any unnessary programs. Check out the camera/graphic/sound etc options in the guide and make sure they are towards the lower quality.

My biggest improvement came when I turned off the anti virus program.

OP by TellMeI’mNotCrazy

I’m having the same problem…I have not figured out how to change their clothes.
I go to the dresser and try to plan outfits, but I can’t seem to change the outfits.
My daughter had a good idea…she had two teenage Sim sisters who looked alike,so she gave one of them tiger face paint.

I have some families that the children look alike, and others that look very different. Do all the grandchildren look alike?
