Does this thread allow any Beatles’ solo efforts? Then I would have to say Nobody Told Me by John and What is Life by George to be my favorites.

Tough to name just one, so I’ll have to go with my current favorite:
“Cry Baby Cry”- I love the melody, the changes in speed, and the whimsical lyrics about the King and Queen of Marigold.
It just gives me the warm fuzzies when I hear it.
Don’t Let Me Down, at the moment.
Happiness Is A Warm Gun
I like the beginning…“She’s not a girl, who misses much…doo doo do doo doo dooooo…oh, yeah…”
Another one of those - ‘well, it changes from time to time’ votes, but I have to go with I am the Walrus and Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite.
I can’t even pick a favorite Beatles album. Too much stellar work. The glare makes deciding on a single “best” work impossible.
Don’t Pass Me By, White Album. Love to belt it out really loud.
I just went out and bought the CD of Abbey Road because of this thread, listening to it full blast right now…only had it on vinyl up 'til now, and the turntable is kaput…damn, now I think I need to go get the White Album…and Revolver…and Rubber Soul…ah f***, might as well go get the lot of them.
For the record, my fave Beatles song changes with my mood, with the weather, etc. But with a gun to my head? I’m Only Sleeping. No body has mentioned this one, have they? Great harmonies, nice little ditty, great for belting out on the subway platfrom in Roppongi waiting for the first train in the early AM…ahhh, good times.
I made my own vote “In My Life” earlier, but I can’t fault any of the other faves, so the old albums have been coming out - as leafrog says’…good times!
It’s got to be… well, one of two anyways… wait, make that three… it’s Tomorrow Never Knows, or Hey, Bulldog, or I Am the Walrus. That’s a good trifecta, but I could keep going on and on. Wait, what about Helter Skelter? It’s pointless to try to whittle them all down to one or two or something.
I want to hold your hand- I hear it and I scream just like the girls in the audience did
She’s leaving home- started a downpour of tears while in bed with guy I lost my virginity to. Talk about guilt
Can someone tell me how “hey bulldog” goes?
I am ashamed to admit I don’t know the song.
Or I don’t know it by the title, and it has been mentioned here a lot.
Thanks
It starts out:
Sheep dog standing in the rain
Bull grog doing it again
This is the chorus:
You can talk to me
You can talk to me
You can talk to me
If you’re lonely, you can talk to me
Full lyrics can be found here.
Just to annoy you, Here is a cheesy karaoke version for Hey Bulldog.
The End.
Why?
“And in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love you make.”
Can’t get better then that.
thanks, and i got the real thing from morpheus…
great song
How can you pick just one? Jeez, you should at least allow us 4–one from each of the gang. Only one, huh…“I Will”.
“Lady Madonna”. VERY underrated. The piano kicks ass.
If someone were holding a gun to my head, I’d be dead right now, unless he had endless patience. Can’t pick just one! If I had to pick an album, though, it’d be the *White Album, ** narrowly edging out Abbey Road, but only because it’s longer.
I’m changing my vote. I don’t know how I forgot about I Will.
