Skeeters in the MMP

Metal Mouse - for the longest time, I had a cell phone that never left the car. As far as I was concerned, it was for emergencies, since we live in the boonies - if I had a breakdown, I might have to wait a while for help. But last year we decided to dump our land line. That number is now my cell number and I pretty much carry it all the time. But hardly anyone ever calls, so it’s no biggie.

It’s not a smart phone, tho - just a cheapie Samsung flip phone on the AT&T pay-as-you-go plan. I don’t think it costs me $10/month all told. I finally caved and joined the late 20th century!

Meanwhile, I think I should get the kitchen floor mopped. So quit distracting me!!!

The back postage stamp has been mowed.
Not that I did the work myself.

I have been irking all morning but irk is slow and I am bored.

I know it’s a small petty thing but a cousin sent me a message and included the HFH on it. I am calming myself down before I respond. I am going to assume my cousin doesn’t know any better.
I don’t know if I am going to make it until Wednesday.
My nerves are shot for something that small to set me off.

No, no. Other than traveling for irk or pleasure, the swampmeister still lives in Jawja, and still sees quite a lot <snerk> of OYKW.

I vacuumed the kitchen floor. I swept the kitchen floor. I just now finished sponge mopping the kitchen floor. The amount of critter hair that got caught up in my mop was amazing!! How is it that they’re not completely bald??

Anyway, that chore is done. Next, I’m going to touch up the caulk around the tub and the shower. Then I may need to hop in the shower. I was just outside with **FCD **looking at some painted panels in the sun - DANG it’s hot out there!!! Stupid summer…

Oh! Whew! Thanks.
Tomorrow is my commencement ceremony. I am sure I mentioned that I went back to school and graduated last August. I was off schedule, so I am attending tomorrow’s ceremony. Looking forward to it!

**Meeks **- hope you enjoy it! I graduated in December, but no way was I going to go back in June. High school graduation was quite enough, plus I sat thru my daughter’s college graduation in 2008. With luck, I’ll be dead before I get invited to any others.

Incidentally - thissounds yummy!

I never walked across the stage. Ever. I graduated high school a year early and didn’t want to walk, and never made it through college the first time.

Always something.

Sah-son is all registered at college, still needs to take his placement tests and pick his classes but we have time for that. Which is good because I was trying to squeeze all that in this week as well. We applied for financial aid, all approved.
Until now, when I get a letter that they want to see his diploma.
They couldn’t have told us this when they wanted his transcripts?
Then after we get the diploma to them it can take 5-7 weeks for it to be processed.
I have no idea where his diploma is, or if we ever got it.
Classes start in August. That gives us just about 7 weeks.
Except for that I won’t be here to get it.
Maybe the HS can send a copy to the college.

Wait - if they have his HS transcript, why would they need to see a diploma?? That makes no sense at all. Ah, bureaucracy!!

Caulkage has been completed. **FCD **is out running errands. Guess I should put all the stuff back in the kitchen since the floor is dry and all.

That is the part I don’t understand, and if they needed it why not ask for it the first go round?
It’s the financial aid office that needs it - but once again why not ask for it from the get go?

And to make matters worse, they won’t talk to me until he fills out a form saying it’s okay and their damn website uses IE instead of FireFox.

Small things, all small things but they add up.
I still haven’t responded to my cousin, I doubt she will appreciate my use of the ‘c’ word in reference to the HFH and I’m not sure I can refrain.

Mooom, when I had cats, I always threatened to knit another one from the hair that I swept/vacuumed/mopped. :stuck_out_tongue:

Cutting out of irk early to get the oil changed and front brakes. I think I’ll swing by home for the tablet to keep occupied first though.

Having lunch before I get to paint. The plywood I bought yesterday has been cut to the proper size to be the back board for the new circuit box. I need to slap a coat of paint on it, then clear the back part of the studio so the electrician can get back there to work.

The fun never stops!

Howdy from da cave! I got an email from the national PTB sayin’ the national office would be closed as of two p.m. My boss imed and said she took that as a sign we should all go home then. My arm did not need to be twisted.

Sari I was told in a past job that I would need to show my h.s. diploma as proof of graduation. Ummm… they had transcripts from both college and grad school. Besides I had and still have no idea where my h.s. diploma is other than probably packed up in junk in my mother’s attic. They figured out I must have graduated from h.s. after all.

’mika congrats! I walked for my undergraduate degree, but not for my master’s. I finished my master’s up in January and left Athens, Jawja in my rearview mirror. No way I was goin’ back in June.

Pizza for dindin. I tell teh intartoobz what kind of pizza I want and OYKW will pick it up. It’s magic!

**swampy **- was it a master’s in home decorating, fashion consulting, or beer drinking?

I crack me up!

It’s 90 stupid degrees out there, and it looks like a band of showers moving this way. Of course, they could be all emptied out by the time they get this far east. And it’s not supposed to cool down appreciably, so it’ll just make it more humid. ick.

No idea what we’ll do for supper. Probably grab whatever.

Finished decorating all the doughnuts. I hope I packed them up all right and that they’ll get to the craft fair/bake sale tomorrow with no issues.

The a/c is noisy and ugly, but works wonderfully. ah I think I will get through this summer very nicely.

I can’t get through to the HS to get his diploma, although I’ll keep trying. I called to college and they said the transcripts would be okay but their department doesn’t have the info yet.
I’m still going to get the diploma.

Better to have it and not need it, then find out I need it after all.

I don’t trust anybody to know what they are doing anymore.

I gradumawayted in Aug but Rathole U only has one ceremony a year, so my choices were to go before I was done, with a full semester left, go 9 months later (when I was already a productive & employed member of society for many months), or skip it altogether. I went with option 3.

I also needed a copy of my diploma for a job; luckily I both (reasonably) knew where it was & had never framed it so that I was able to scan it & email to them; don’t know how I would have handled that if it was framed.
I’ve never quite understood people who frame their diplomas & hang them at home. Yeah, I know I finished, I don’t need something on the wall to remind me of that.

When I saw the time of this post, I just knew it was going to start the way it does. In other shocking news, the sun rises in the East, fire is hot, General Franco is still dead…

I usually leave the setting on HEAT in case we get a cold night in April or May. If the heater doesn’t come on, it’s not costing me anything but a penny or two to leave the thermostat on that setting.
We’re in Day 2 of our first (expected) heat wave of the summer. I was out last night & came home & slept outside on Murphy. Tonight, I’m only going to be home long enough to pack my stuff & go to someone’s place for tonight’s activities & then we’re leaving from there early in the morn for the event we’re going to tomorrow. Forget central A/C, I think it’s finally time to turn the setting from HEAT to OFF.

Fun and games figuring out what I can safely eat without a gallbladder.

I’ve had no problems with canned chili or Taco Bell, but two eggs fried in a bit of Pam resulted in grumpy guts.
