Slang terms for Cowgirls

Still, what is the origin and meaning of “Buffalo Girl”?

Alright. This thread has popped up 3 times, now, and I keep not posting this, 'cus I’m afraid it might not be what you’re after, but now I can no longer resist.

Honky-tonk Woman - I believe this refers to a woman who “gets around” if you know what I Mean.

I meant “Buffalo Gal”, and not to come off as being critical, is that an actual term?

Does Calico Queen also mean a tough, or imposable woman?
What are some western/cowboy terms for “sweetheart” and other terms of endearment?

Darlin’ is pretty generic, and I think it’s been around a while.

Around here, a woman who can ride, like a rodeo queen or a barrel racer, is generally called a cowgirl.

A woman who can break horses, sort cattle, sling fenceposts, string barbed wire, figure out profit and loss on hay, negotiate pasture leases, back a truck with a loaded stock trailer, assist in the birth of a calf, preg-test a cow, and turn a bull calf into a steer is generally called “ma’am.”

If there’s a word for women like that, it’s probably “ranch wife.”

Is there such a thing as black cowboy slang? I’ve been trying to find this out.
I’ve asked once before but is “buffalo gal” an actual term?

Why a “hot rod”? What’s the connotation behind it? Also, I address the same last two questions I asked InvisibleWombat to you.

What terms do they use for tomboys?

What slang terms do Latin cowboys use for cowgirls? Does anyone know of any terms of endearment?

Hard to say. If there is, Ella Fitzgerald uses it in “Cow Cow Boogie.”

Sorry, but I don’t know the answer to either question. In the big cities and on television, black people and white people seem to be speaking two different languages. Around here, we all talk pretty much the same, no matter what color we are.

Since Western/Cowboy Slang is related to this topic, I’ll post these questions here:

What terms do they use for tough men and women, heroes, heroines, troublemakers, good men, good women, smart and seasoned people and terms of endearment?

And other terms that are reflective of their personalities or characteristics?
And terms for good-looking or attractive men and women, charmers, sweet men and women, clever men and women, and men and women physically fit or endowed?

Are there any other terms for tomboys? What about troublemakers? Are there any western/cowboy terms of endearment/affection?

Did I miss something that everyone else knows? Dr., you have been tenaciously pursuing this topic for almost a month. In some cases, you have asked the same questions over and over as if getting the precise definitions is very very improtant to you. I also noted that you have started other threads with similar questions. If I may respectfully ask…“What in tarnation are you up to?”

Dr. Starfish
I’m closing this thread. It’s just too ramblin’.

Please limit your posts to a discreet number of questions. If, in the middle of a thread you need to ask about multiple new words/topics, start a new thread.

BUT, do NOT repeat the same question(s) in multiple threads.
