24 lights, 48 feet, $50 at Costco.
How wonderful! Ours are very jealous.
The deck and roof were there. I just added some more uprights, fenced it in, made doors, and put the doors on pocket door hardware.
Our catio was also constructed in our patio, but I shut the lights off out there because they draw bugs and the bugs will come in through the kitty door.
Our cats are jealous because bug season is starting and they are all fierce bug hunting kitties with very unreasonable slaves.
My, that’s a beautiful catio, flyboy! No wonder Mrs. LA loves to spend so much time out there. And congrats on the new heater.
MetalMouse, that’s a lot of reffing and coaching! I bet you sleep like a log.
…like it or not. Quoth the raven, “Nevermore.” That creepy bird was enough to drive you stark raven mad. The raven in Poe’s poem was inspired by Dicken’s real-life pet raven, which Dickens featured in one of his novels. I can’t recall which one.
And thank you for being so kind to me.
ETA: I just looked it up. The novel was Barnaby Rudge. The raven’s name was Grip.
well they opened one (there’s like 5 or 6 now)where the original golden corral was when it was a sizzler/steakhouse knockoff) and they started serving dinner but it’s on the lunch menu…
and since about 70 percent of everyone gets breakfast no matter what time of day it doesn’t surprise me not many people even order it …
I just cut into a Caerphilly I made before the world ended. OMG. I’m not young enough for this hobby because all I could think was “WOW, this is amazing, I wonder how good it would be after 5 years.”
Sits up straight and proud while calling herself a cheese maker! Blessed are me!!!
Gordie just did that with his post dinner cookies.
Too pooped to read right now. Will catch up later. Cross posting from the “Dinner Tonight” thread, because I’m just too tired to come up with anything else:
Looooong night closing shift at work. We were short-handed, slammed with both the usual Saturday dinner rush plus the pre-game party planners ordering endless racks of ribs, ungodly pounds of pulled pork, etc. for tomorrow’s season finale of sports.
So imma fix some mac’n’cheese (an instant cup - don’t judge! - so’s not to produce more dishes to wash) plus add some … { checks pantry for can of tuna } umm … smoked trout? Apparently?
Good night, y’all.
flyboy The catio looks great! I’m a little surprised that the heater fits under the roof. A friend of mine has one, and I think it’s about 8’ tall. Check into clearances before lighting, please don’t burn down the catio.
It’s actually quite high in the back. Here’s the roof when it was finished, but before the conversion to a catio.
(Seeing this image again, I built the railings with 4x4 diagonals for structural rigidity.)
Up having my bio-break, including a cup of instant oatmeal. It’s 5 a.m. so many of you would consider this First Breakfast, but since I didn’t get to bed till midnight and fully intend to crash back out again, I’m calling it Second Dinner.
It’s the kind with little bits of freeze-dried strawberries, so it’s like dessert, but all healthy and stuff
Speaking of freeze-dried, it’s 13 F out there. Considering they said it would get down to 5 F last night (and possibly did) why, that’s practically shorts weather!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 48 Amurrkin out and mostly clear with a predicted high of 61 and partly N.O.S. for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization. As I mentioned it will be a sad one bein’ as it is EYP’s last Sunday with us. It won’t be the last time I see him, as the Liturgy Committee meets tomorrow afternoon and he’ll be there. His official last day is Tuesday. Anywho, deheathenization will be followed by “The Souper Bowl of Caring” so lots of chili will be eaten along with other stuff. We shall bring the demon rum cake and a gallon each of sweet and unsweet tea. Beyond that I see sloth and uselessness.
flyboy the catio looks great! The lights are a tasteful addition.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.
Happy Sunday Y’all!
The rain hasn’t started yet and it’s about 37°. I woke early after another unnerving dream involving being run off the road and then having this obnoxious teenage boy setting my garage on fire…anyway, I’m up and dressed and breakfasting. Since Food Lion just opened, I’m going to make a quick run there for some beans so I can make a batch of chili for FCD (mostly for the freezer.) Plus I’ll get a little more Diet Coke while it’s still on sale.
After that, it’s home to stay today. I’m assuming The Game will be later today - no clue how we’ll fill the intervening hours. Don’t care. I’ll make the chili, and I may do a little fridge cleaning, considering I found some egg nog from Christmas in the back the other day - who knows what science experiments may remain in its chilly depths??? And I’ll read.
Regarding bird watching - I don’t get it. Of course, I can say that about a lot of hobbies that I don’t share. I can recognize cardinals, robins, and blue jays. There are a number of American eagles in this area - several live around/on an Amish farm I pass frequently. I also recognize buzzards/vultures (Is there a difference??) I like to listen to the tweets, but I can’t imagine heading out to look for and identify birds.
Guess it’s a good thing we all have different interests - it gives us something to discuss/argue about!
Happy Sunday!!
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s wet, windy and grim outside so I’m staying indoors today. Bit of a lazy one, we went to see a band last night, good fun and as it’s only 10 minutes walk from home, it was a bonus. Afterwards, we watched a film and had some wine, very grown-up and civilised for a Saturday night.
Today I have very little planned. I have to go back to campus tomorrow so I’ve already made something for lunch that can sit in the fridge overnight. I will also do some overnight oats for breakfast but that can wait until later. I’ve fed the mogs, done the litter trays, bought a travel pass for Monday and I’m running a bath. After that, it’ll be time for lunch and an afternoon of sloth.
My birthday is only a few weeks away, and 'im indoors has been muttering about the absence of a wishlist anywhere. Guess I will have to think about that one next.
The catio looks lovely flyboy!
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and chilling with the little reddish dog on my lap. KP and the usual Sunday chores will happen shortly. I knew that it would be cold today (it was 21F when I took Nelson out), so I planned a supper from the oven (sausage stuffed butternut squash).
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. It’s cold and overcast.
The Puppy Bowl is at 3p.m. EST
at catioy[/b]!
Good morning everyone.
I have read to catch up, but have not retained it all.
nellie, I hope your back is doing much better today.
I hope you find your snuggle bunny soon, sunny.
FCM, I couldn’t understand the big deal about bird watching either, but then I got a bird feeding station. It’s actually very enjoyable watching all the different visitors come. I have regulars and some of them have really funny personalities. Some of the daily visitors include bushtits, pine siskins, Townsend’s warbler, house, ruby and goldfinches, chestnut-backed chickadees, black-capped chickadees, towhees, nuthatches, hairy woodpeckers, northern flickers, pileated woodpeckers, stellar jays, sparrows, wrens, crows, and hummingbirds in spring, summer and early fall because I keep flowers near the feeders that hummingbirds like.
I’ll need to hop in the shower soon and pack up my stuff for my trip to Yakima. I really don’t want to go, but whatever. I am hoping this is the last trip related to having cubicle stuff installed. I will also have my co-worker traveling with me. We’re both vaxed and have our boosters, so that’s good.
Morning all. Finally went to bed last night just before midnight and up around 7am, so that should do me well. Gym doesn’t open until 9am, so have to decide if I do that early or a little later.
Got my free COVID tests in the mail yesterday, haven’t taken any yet but nice to have them on-hand.
Taters, safe travels.
flyboy, nice catio.
Still awakening, will check back later before tackleball. All y’all take care.
Well, they’re a trendy addition! Seriously, everybody up here has them. But I do like the ‘vintage’ look, and they use less energy than the floodlight somebody jury-rigged to the house.
Thanks, everyone, for the comments on the catio. Just to be clear, I did it in 2019. Only the lights are new
