Sleeper Cell: Season 2 Starts On Showtime Tonight!

As far as the meat guy goes, Darwyn stayed behind to clean up the scene, so presumably (even though they didn’t show it) the FBI moved in to cover up the death. Sicne Darwyn was taking care of it for the cell, there’s no real reason why they’d continue to worry about it.

As far as the RDX packages, again, I’m assuming, that he resealed them with the same sort of tape they were originally bound with so unless someone was really looking closely to see that there were two layers of tape it may have gone unnoticed.

All fanwankery but I’m not sure we’d have benefitted storywise from seeing the FBI cleaning up the scene or Darwyn retaping the packages.

I get that they expected Darwyn to clean things up, but the cell doesn’t know that Darwyn has the connections to keep something like that out of the news. If there’s no news, shouldn’t they wonder why?

Maybe there’s been something but they just haven’t talked about it. Or maybe they’re just so focused on themselves, they don’t care.

What’s going to happen with the guy’s Marine son? Will he have to be silenced when he realizes his dad has disappeared?

He will be given a red shirt and transfered to Korea or, better, Afghanistan.

He’ll have to do more than retape. He made a cut around all four sides and lifted off the top. It’ll be impossible to disguise that, unless he retapes around the sides to hide the cuts, and how will he explain doing that?

Heck, maybe he won’t get away with it, and it’ll be a plot point for future episodes.

Unless someone’s looking for the retape are they really going to notice that there are two thicknesses of tape instead of one? IIRC he cut through the tape on the packages, presumably specificlly so he could retape over the original tape lines.

He cut around the sides of the packages, through the clear stuff as well as the tape. But I agree – it’s unlikely that those dunderheads in his cell will notice.

More important than that, and this is the kind of thing that really bugs me about this show, the notion that you can render a brick of high explosive inert by spraying a little liquid on it strikes me as ludicrously implausible. Now, I’ll admit that I’m not a demolition expert (although I have worked with plastic explosives) so I could be wrong, but I would be shocked if there’s any basis in fact for this ridiculous plot device.

commasense, that’s the thing about this show – it’s hard to nitpick because most people don’t have any real life knowledge about the technical stuff. It’s like the anti-Jericho.

Is Darwyn using some kind of magical ATM card that sends him URLs? And now we’ve got them using something from smoke detectors to check for radiation leaks?

That stuff doesn’t bother me so much as the expositional speechifying. It was okay for Farik to do this with his daughter and her art, because he’s teaching her, but the conversations between Darwyn and his father were excruciating.

They look like IP addresses, but some of the numbers are too large. Perhaps it is like unto the fake phone numbers that are used in movies.

My guess is that they never hired anyone to get the computer tech right for the show. I believe they are supposed to be IP addresses. Once we even see Darwin start to type one in a browser. Only, he sort of messes something up:

www.164.34. etc. :smack:

Both of those are at least based on real things. The magic ATM cards are like if not the same as those passcode keys that some online sites use for security (I used one some ten years ago and was very amused when online stock trading sites started touting them a year or so ago as the cutting edge of online security) and one form of smoke detector does contain radioactive material.

Otto, does the ISP or URL on the card change? That’s what’s got me flummoxed. It looks like it’s not the same number every time Darwyn uses it.

The device I used had a randomly generated string of numbers that functioned as a password. Somehow they had to be synched to the security for the website I was on. I’m not a tech guy so I have no idea how it all works.

If they knew Gail was working against them, how come they let Darwyn continue to work with them?

That’s a damn good question.

Maybe they were only slightly suspicious of Darwyn, so they set Mina on Gayle. ?? It seemed like Mina went after Gayle on her own, being a psycho bitch and all, after Mina overheard that phone call. Otherwise Mina would have tried to warn the others.

Whoa. Mina heard what phone call? I was letting Mrs. Plant’s dogs out or something.
Mina told Gayle, “I don’t question my orders” as though the New Guy whose name I forget told her to kill or kidnap Gayle.
It occured to me after I posted that they though Gayle was spying on Darwyn.

I told Mrs. Plant, “If anyone takes you in a car at gunpoint and tells you to drive somewhere, go to the police station. Failing that a fire station. Lots of Good Guys who make Good Witnesses in court. You shouldn’t get shot in front of them.”

Gayle went into the bathroom at the Islamic Center and called Darwyn, left him a message about being stuck with the psycho bitch Mina.

I asked over at TWOP about Mina-Gayle, and was told that Farik ordered the new cell leader to get rid of Gayle, as she was a distraction for Darwyn. I don’t remember seeing that part though – maybe I was letting dogs out too.

What is TWOP? Good answer, whoever they are.

If I may digress concerning dogs, supposedly one of the reasons Muslims dislike dogs is that a dog barking in a house would frighten a beggar and cause him not to ask for alms.

TWOP is televisionwithoutpity.com. Sleeper Cell is listed under Dramas, if you want to check out the forum.

Interesting, about the dogs.

Can we digress some more and figure out what to do if someone points a gun at you and tells you to drive? I’d like to think I’d cause an accident, but I don’t know. Maybe I’d do what Gayle did, keep driving and hope for the best.

An attorney I knew said you should put your foot to the floor, drive like hell and do as much damage as possible. I’m not sure if this was to attract the attention of the police, or to facilitate a lawsuit.
