Yeah, There is noway they’d kill off Zoe. The producers know that she’s one of the main reasons people keep watching.
Also, I agree with whoever above mentioned that Lana faked her own death.
Thirdly - MM said rather clearly in the episode why he and Lionel knew each other. Lionel is affected by Jor-El’s influence, and the MM was an agent of Jor-El. It is reasonable that MM should recognize Jor-El’s influence on Lionel.
I’m still hoping fore more Justice League next season.
I for one think Chloe is a fine character and she belongs in the Superman canon. The question is, are the writers going to stick with the comicbook canon, or realize they have created something better and work with it. I will be dissappointed if they ultimately kill off Chloe and try to recreate comicbook Superman. I’m a Smallville fan, not a comicbook fan.
There’s already been like 7 or 8 different versions of the Superman story in various media, at least 3 or 4 of which were in comics. Smallville is similar to and also distinct from all of them. Arguments about what should happen in Smallville based on what happened in any previous version of Superman are silly. It’s already different in many ways from the other versions, there’s no reason to arbitrarily declare that Chloe can survive because she wasn’t a character in previous versions, or that Clark has to end up with Lois, etc.
Anyone care to speculate on the significance of the perfect Superman shield that flashed on the screen when Bizzaro was created? We’ve seen the shield’s shape before, and we’ve seen S-logos before, but I think this is the first time we’ve seen the combination.
BTW: Some evidence that Lana is not dead: Lionel told Clark that Lana is dead and that he saw the explosion. But Lionel did not claim to have seen any of Lana’s remains. Cuz there weren’t any.
However, it was also reported on kryptonsite that one of the main four (Lana, Clark, Lex or Chloe) would die, and since they kinda need Clark and Lex, and everyone’s in loooove with Lana, that leaves Chloe. I’m just basing my info on what I read, folks. Also, they’re saying that Annette O’Toole will not be coming back, at least not as a regular, so take it for what it’s worth.
Did anybody jot down the latitude and longitude that Lois was using (location of the 33.1 lab)? Thought I’d use Google Earth to see where it was, which would tell us the area of Smallville and Metropolis in the show’s universe.
(The second X-Men movie also had a secret lab built into a big dam. Don’t major dams require permanent staff for maintenance and monitoring? In the comics, apparently they’re completely abandoned and available for use as evil headquarters, up until they burst.)
I think that was Jor-El’s Crystal that Clark got while he was in the Phantom Zone. It’s in the shape of the S-Shield. IIRC, the S-Shield is the symbol of the House of El.
Cite?
I’ve always wanted to say that.
On edit: Oh, you mean the characters on the show. Meh - I’m blaming that on repeated head trauma.
I don’t know why anyone would suggest comic book continuity has bearing on whether Chloe is dead or not. Jonathan Kent is alive and well in the comics.
I don’t think she’s really dead. I think they would have made a bigger, sappier deal out of it if she was.
Even though I don’t believe she’s dead, I’m hoping Lana stays off the show. Maybe she can go offscreen and hook up with Pete Ross, like she did in the comics.
I’d assume that the “95 degrees” for longitude would be West (so it’d be -95 degrees in mapquest / google map’s syntax). Doing it that way puts it about 10 miles SE of Topeka. As far as I can tell: no hydroelectric plant (or even rivers). It looks like it’s somebody’s back yard, I wonder if they got a rush of geocachers heading out that way…
If Chloe’s dead, then I have no further reason to watch the show. Each episode, I pray for Lana’s death- but the bitch has more lives than a damn cat. Hell, with all of the times she’s been knocked unconscious throughout the series, Lana should be a freakin’ vegetable.
I keep hoping that Lois will die, as well- and somehow, Chloe will take her place (and name).
It used to be that the two most interesting characters on the show were Lex and Chloe. Lex has just become a muddled pale reflection of what he once was- if they’ve killed off Chloe, I’ll just remove the show from my recording lineup. That’ll leave only Supernatural, since they’re already canceling the other CW show I watch- Veronica Mars.
But what about Papa Luthor? He’s still damn fun! Why are all of my hot women getting killed? Chloe and Ava (and don’t remind me about Alicia).
And to those people that feel that the show doesn’t have to follow comic canon: You’re right. But there’s obviously a lot of people who I’m sure only watch it because it’s a Superman show, and doing something “off” like having Lois die in a zepplin accident and Lex run off with Pete Ross would get them all riled up. Contented fans are stable fans, and unfortunatly Chloe fans just aren’t numerous to save her, if she does in fact die.
sciguy: thanks. I must have gotten a number wrong!
I’m going to spoiler this for those who don’t want to know, but it’s about Chloe’s death and whether or not it’s permanent:
Erica Durance gave an interview the other day basically saying, “no way is Chloe dead, come on, this is Smallville.” The only actor who is confirmed to be leaving the show is Annette O’Toole, who may still appear on occasion.
