I never told shell what to do. I’m more pissed with the fact that she stereoyped this guy and called him a waste of a good abortion. What makes her the supreme commander of everyone? I’d like her to explain this to me and then and only then would she ever get an apology from me. I highly doubt that’ll happen.
DippityDoo, I think the OP’s intention was to let off steam. I know when I vent, I tend to exaggerate, just to get the annoyance off my chest.
Maybe it’s not worthy of any explanation beyond that to you. Your making demands seems to run almost parallel to the guy who wants shell to keep smiling. I don’t think hostility is going to get you anywhere in this situation.

This is the Pit. Whether or not you agree with the OP, she is using it for its intended purpose. I’ve only seen the “line of decency” crossed in the Pit one time since I have been posting to these boards. As for the phrase used in the OP…I’ve seen it used in rants by other posters more times than I can count.

There are seven other forums you can visit on the SDMB. If you don’t like the language, insults, etc. traded in the Pit, then don’t even bother to look at it.

Having once started a Pit thread similar to the OP, I can say that the variety of insults used was just the poster’s way of conveying her sheer disgust with this man. Yeah, the insults may have been harsh. But so are the OP’s feelings toward this man.
Look, dipshit, she didn’t call YOU a waste of a good abortion. She vented about some annoying guy who told her to smile. Many people, in this thread and the one I linked to, see ordering someone to smile as an invasive, aggressive, irritating act. She doesn’t owe YOU an apology. If you think she “crossed the lines of common decency”, email a mod. Or challenge her to a duel of puns. Or anything but repeating this irritating chorus.

Yes as a matter of fact I would have been cool with that. Saying someone is a waste of a good abortion or a waste of air isn’t right in my book. I saw something that pissed me off and I took a stand for it much as in the same way shell is. She could have made any comment at all other than about her wishing this guy dead and I would have been cool with it. Secondly she stereotpyed and then did it again. Again I saw something i disagreed with and took a stand for it.
Other than that I’ve got no real beef with shell or the op. I do have a problem with her bashing naturally happy people. She doesn’t know this guy. She can’t make a good judgement about this guys character and whether or not he is something.
