Nice to see some behind-the-scenes action. It was especially interesting to see Bellatrix Lestrange, Luna Lovegood and Delores Umbridge moving and talking. Everyone looks perfect for their roles.

In other movie news, Radcliffe signed on for the last two Harry Potters so that speculation can be put to rest. Also, Half-Blood Prince begins filming in September for a November 2008 release.

Luna has cute hair.

Dan Radcliffe and Rupert Grint were never in doubt as far as I know. It’s Emma Watson that I want to know about! Not that I think it impossible for anyone else to play Hermione, but from a continuity point of view it would be too jarring to replace her.

What is it that Luna Lovegood was wearing in the forest scene?

It looks like Luna is wearing some sort of sleeved poncho or capelet (a knitted cropped swing jacket, maybe?), with a peasant blouse or smock and long-sleeved t-shirt underneath, and either a pair of Victorian-ish pantalets or a pair of leggings with lace at the bottoms. In other words, she is dressed as only Luna can be dressed.

The girl playing Luna looks like she’s nailing the part, though, just from those brief snippets. I always had a hard time picturing her in the books for some reason, but I can’t say I’m dissatisfied with this choice.

I don’t know who’s responsible for Sirius’ fighting style, the choreographer or Gary Oldman himself, but it’s absolutely spot on for the character. A little showy, but I have no doubts it’s effective.

Cool! Thanks for the link. Looks like they are making this one appropriately ‘dark.’ I love Helena Bonham Carter and she looks great as Bellatrix.

The 3 main actors are signed on for movies 6 and 7:

Brian

I am not sure about LeStrange’s hair, though…I do hope she strikes the exact note of malice–I have no doubts re Bonham Carter…just a little meh about the hair.

As for Luna, I am more concerned re her lines. I so want to hear her say, “It’s almost like having friends.” Things like that…

I am rereading the series now, so it’s fresher in my mind for book 7 and film 5.

Helena Bonham Carter is Bellatrix Lestrange? Sweet.

Only thing that could be sweeter might be to have Tim Burton direct an episode or two.

Upside: I’ve thought since the first movie that Williams was ripping off Danny Elfman’s style. This would allow Elfman to step in and show old Johnny how it’s done.

Downside: Johnny Depp as Rufus Scrimgeour? Ewww.

They’ve got some good actors and I’m sure it will come out well on a scene-for-scene basis, but I’m worried that like HP4, the movie will come out choppy and erratic. Did they switch directors again?

Yes, OotP has yet another director. It’s strange: IMDB says that many directors have been approached about directing an installment, but most turn it down. Maybe they’re afraid of letting down the fans.

I’m glad that whoever has adapted both HP4 and HP5 decided to use Neville more. In HP4, the book had Dobby giving Harry the gillyweed, after Harry missed getting the info from Neville; the movie had Neville chiming in with it just in time. Then again in HP5 (movie), Neville is the one who found the Room of Requirement instead of Dobby (book).

Also, the movies have cut out some characters completely that just would bog down the plot: Peeves, Winky, Ludo Bagman.
