I stuck the teaser link in a thread a bit back, but in case no-one’s yet seen it;
Wow! It looks exciting, but I’ll have to read book 5 again prior to seeing the movie.
and I see from this that Emma Watson is still overacting in the worst way. She was so good in film 3-what happened?
And what or who is this metal faced critter? Don’t remember that.
I think the metal faced guys are the Death Eater’s masks, but that could be wrong.
After I watched the fourth film, I was talking to a friend about it and she says Emma Watson acts with her eyebrows; I didn’t know what she meant until I watched the film again. It’s true!
I believe you’re right Revenant Threshold. The metal masks must be the face coverings worn by the Death Eaters in the battle at the Ministry of Magic when they attempted to steal the prophecy.
I hate to be superficial, but I don’t care at all for Harry Potter’s haircut in this movie.
Yeah, whatever happened to it being impossible to cut or style?
I’m not entirely sure I like what they’ve done with Bellatrix’s appearance either.
I saw a quick shot of Luna, though, and she has this awesome spacey look on her face. I think she’s going to do well.
I liked it better in film 4/
I can’t stand Emma’s overemphasis in her phrasing. Watch film 4-when Fred and George show up with their age elixir and she tells them it’s not going to work. She ruins her lines by her motions and yes, her eyebrows. And she needs to just speak her lines, not voice them as if they were being torn from her mouth unwillingly and with feeling…(yes, I’ve thought a great deal about this).
Harry’s hair- in film 4. I liked it better. He looks like he is already prematurely balding!
I had no problem with her appearance, but Helena Bonham Carter seems a little young to me to play Bellatrix. I imagined her (Bellatrix) as being much older. Is her age ever mentioned in the books?
She was at Hogwarts at the same time as Voldemort, so I think you’re right in that she should be older. I’m not sure how much by, though
You sure about that? I remember a Lestrange being mentioned in Slugworth’s horcrux memory, but that would have to be either Rastaban or Rodolphus(as Bellatrix’s maiden name is Black).
I’m pretty sure it says somewhere that Bellatrix and her husband are the same age… it might be the Pensieve courtroom scene in PoA. But I had forgotten about the brother, so you’re right, it could be him referred to and not Bella’s husband.
The more and more actual acting Harry has to do, the more I worry about Daniel Radcliffe. There were a few lines in the Teaser that I cringed at. I also think we’ll miss Alfonso Cuarón. This new guy really hasn’t done a whole lot of work which always worrys me a little bit.
Jeez, I should have checked the lexicon first. The Black Family Tree gives Bellatrix’s year of birth as 1951. That should make her about 45 in OotP.
It’s been reviewed fairly well so far, as well (we’ll see). Like I said, the Harry Potter universe will miss Alfonso Cuarón.
I started doing a lot of that as of my first peek at Goblet of Fire.
Agreed–POA is by far the best movie of the series so far. I really wish he would have directed GOF.
Emma (IMO) did her best acting in Cuaron’s movie.
That movie looks intriguing. (like most of his work)
In all fairness, GOF wasn’t the best book in the series either. Between the contrived/awkward "I know how to get Harry Potter! First, I’ll hack the goblet so it spews out his name, then I’ll cleverly arrange for him to do well enough in each event to stay in the running, and then I’ll turn the cup into a portkey that will transport HP to the graveyard, where… and the character-inversion of Mad Eye Moody (nearly everyone seemed to feel like it was a late decision by Rowling to make Moody one of the bad guys…just didn’t “fit”), not to mention S.P.E.W., … anyone would’ve had trouble making it a really great movie.
Sure could’ve been better than it was, though.
