Good lord, I thought the whole show beginning to end was a crime against humanity comparable to the Bataan Death March–I haven’t watched SNL in years, is it always this bad? Even the used-to-be-reliable commercial parodies and Weeked Update fell flat.
I watched it just because I’m a Jason Lee fan, but this proved that even he needs good writing and good directing to be an interesting performer.
Weekend Update is on a fast downhill skid. Someone here mentioned it before: they do a joke and then spend 2 or 3 minutes telling you that they did a joke.
The one skit Horatio Sanz was in (not that it needed help, but) he managed to ruin by laughing.
That was my last episode. Even the funniest part (relatively speaking) was going to the same well yet again. Schwetty Balls, caulk in the crack, whatever.
I think The Daily Show has pretty much made Weeked Update obsolete. I did get a few third-grade snickers out of the caulk sketch, but I was embarrassed even as I snickered.
Oh, and yes, after the Earl-a-thon and SNL, I did have Jason Lee dreams all night . . .
As always, Alias clicked on over to SNL after Mad TV was over. Got there just in time to see that skit. Not funny in the least. I just stared at the tv. They just took the premise and beat you over the head with it.
The worst part was that he still had the gun. Former pro wrestler is still going to get shot. The dogs will do better, but they still ain’t bulletproof. That ruins the payoff. :smack:
The Falconer was the only even remotely funny bit on that entire show, and even that was just a rehash of the same joke they do every time The Falconer appears.
God, what a trainwreck. They HAVE to get new writers. The cast itself is funny enough (sans Horatio, who’s laughing schtick has gotten ridiculously old), but the material is just godawful.
I thought the “Good Morning Meth” bit was kinda funny, and I don’t mind “The Falconer.” Many of the other skits could have used some improvement, though.
