Maybe I’m missing the joke here, but I thought this was absolutely awful…and it seemed to go on and on and on. In fact, though we’ve been faithfully watching for 20+years and loved the Timberlake episode, we both agreed that this was by far the worst episode we can remember. Harry Caray dragged forever…the monologue didn’t even seem like it was supposed to be funny. The only thing that made us laugh was celebrity Jeopardy, and to a lesser extent, Lawrence Welk.
I’ve just always been a big fan of Ferrell’s Harry Caray impression and it was fun to see him dust it off for the show. I thought the whole thing was true to way he’s always played Caray.
The one that comes to mind at the moment is her Nancy Pelosi impersonation, which is damned good.
I think her Kathy Lee Gifford impersonation is dead-on and funny as well, but agree that most of her “characters” are horrible.
Let’s audit the Kristin Wiig characters:

Other characters that I can stand:
MacGruber sidekick
And looking remarkably unlike him, for some reason… what’s with the blonde Eminem wig? Connery’s pretty much bald, isn’t he?
