SNL sketch last night, Kaitlin's Instrument

well I hate this show, at least for a couple of years now

But I caught a scketch last night called Kaitlin’s Instrument where we see a really annoying but hilarious little girl bother her brother and uncle.

Did anyone else see this? I can’t beleive people aren’t talking about this one on the board.

I thought this was the most funny, original skit I’ve seen in many years, hopefully we have a recurring character here, it has been a while since Ladie’s Man or the cheerleaders (which was half-lame anyway). It didn’t even invlove sex or gay cliches… Hopefully a new trend in this sinking ship of a television show.

I did a second more of research to find that Kaitlin is already a recurring character. Which is awesome, I want to see more! linkage

Rick is actually supposed to be her step-father, I think. There have been a couple earlier sketches with Rick and Kaitlin.

What always surprises me about these sketches is how subdued and uncartoonish Horatio Sanz plays Rick.

I think he does it well, it’s just uncharacteristic of him not to whoop it up for cheap laughs, and end up giggling his way through the scene.

He did almost lose it at one point.

I haven’t watched SNL in at least a cfew years (since before Fallon left), and this episode was great. All the sketches were on (except that “Oh noooo!” guy) and the one with Paul Giamatti in the limo was hilarious. And Amy Poehler is about 1300 times better as anchor than Fallon, who has terrible timing. I may actually try to watch next week.

“Take me to Taco Bell, Rick! I need a tostada to calm my nerves!”

Rick is her step-father, and I also like how Horatio plays him. Very subdued, calm and supportive of this wild little hyperactive 10-year-old. It’s almost sweet.

Amy Poehler was in pretty much every single skit this episode. It was great, but she must have been exhausted by the end.

I think she’s probably the best all-around cast member they have on the show. And she’s hot, too! (though not as Kaitlin  )

I’ve always enjoyed that character quite a bit.

Rick Rick Rick Rick Rick! Rick! RICKRICKRICK!!!
She seems to be a bit based on the Hyperactive Hypoglycemic little kid played by Mike Myers (Phillip?). If he ever hosts or does a cameo, they should have those two characters meet. It would be hilarious.

By the way, Amy Poehler was absolutely hilarious as the recurring character of Andy Richter’s sister on Late Night with Conan O’Brien.

May I also suggest buying the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Season 1 dvd’s for more Amy Poehler goodness.

Kaitlin reminds me of Cassie from Upright Citizens Brigade (also played by Amy Poehler, natch), the hyper little girl who befriended the gay Unabomber.

“Can I get you something to drink?”
“I’ll have a Sprite with some sugar in it.”

Wow, gotta disagree. I absolutely can’t stand that sketch, and I wish they’d stop doing it every week. The ‘adult playing little girl or boy’ thing has been done to death; it was done on the very first season of SNL, and has been done ad nauseum since. I like Amy, but that’s not even close to being her best thing.

Oh, good. I’ve read this thread 3 or 4 times now, and I was just going to be forced to ask if I was the only one who did not like this sketch. It’s nice to know I’m not entirely alone

Oh, and I like Amy, too.

I’m sorry, but I have been cracking up every time I think of Will Forte as the “Ohhhh noooo!” guy. I was laughing my ass off during the sketch, and it brings a huge stupid smile to my face every time I think of it. Maybe it’s the sheer stupidity of the whole sketch, or maybe his Scottish accent, but I loved it way more than I should have. Plus, my brother and I have a new catch-phrase now. Ohhhh nooooooo! BWAH HA HA! :stuck_out_tongue: :smack:

Oh, put me down as another Amy Poehler lover, but she still comes in second to my adoration of the bespectacled comedy goddess Tina Fey.

I’m pretty sure ‘Rick’ is her big brother, and not her step-dad. In the first skit they did (with Lindsay Lohan doing a sleep-over) I’m sure she called him her brother.

From a Transcript (I wouldn’t advise necessarily clicking the link…popups galore.)

here

seems you can’t link directly to media at that site, but if you type in Kaitlin in the search box in the upper right corner, the sketch will be your first hit

Huh. I guess I heard ‘brother’ instead of step-dad. Or just misremebered it. Thanks for the correction.
