It’s downright bizarre how London can get 4 feet of snow. And Toronto doesn’t have an inch of it forecasted. In fact, the 14 day forecast shows that beyond today the temperature isn’t going to drop below freezing. Crazy winter weather.
I’d heard that London got a right drubbing. I was just talking to one of our dealers in Komoka and he was telling me all about it. I’m thankful I live out of the snow belt for this reason; we’ve got next to nothing – just the wee snow drifts that are the result of the light dustings we’ve had over the past couple of days.
Having said that of course I expect I’ll be seeing some significant precipitation in the next couple of weeks, because nature abhors a smartass.
Wow. Now that is pile of snow. I’m telling you, whoever it was that said we were going to have a mild winter this year better be wearing flame-retardant trousers.
Cool pics – frightening, but cool. And if you’re going to send any this way, try and shoot past Brampton and into the GTA. LiLi would appreciate some white stuff, and I’m perfectly fine without it.
What a day! It took the whole day just to dig out the car!
With the city shut down over a quarter million people, all of whom, like we, operate at only one speed; hyperspeed, were given the gift of time. Not scheduled time, not time that could be applied, no way to convince yourself, “I ought to be doing…”, nope, flat out free time. No shopping, totally no driving. Talking about the weather and shoveling snow became the order of the day. The shoveling is very difficult as you have to fling it over your height! The thoroughfares were turned into pedestrian malls. Even there the walking was trecherous. But like true Canadians, once told to stay indoors we immediately bundle up and head off to check on someone.
As the cold clear dark night settles in over the city I cannot help but notice what a wonderful day it really was. Neighbour checking on neighbour, ramdom acts of kindness abounding. You could almost smell the lovingkindness in the air.
Having checked on my neighbours I am struck at the feeling of returning to my own hearth and the warmth of loving family on a snowy and cold winters night. Ain’t nothing finer!
Yep. Nothing like some unexpected and widespread chaos to bring the community together.
It was certainly the topic of conversation from several clients I talked to today that worked in the area – the unfortunate ones who did manage to make it into work somehow. One guy I talked to took 3 hours to get to work, which included shoveling himself out of his personal mountain of snow. At the time I talked to him they’d managed to plow through the main thoroughfares only; residential areas and bus routes were still snowed in. At least it warmed up to about zero around noon, which should have made shoveling a bit more bearable, if still labour-intensive.
Long weekend for you I guess! Us, we got a few light flurries but nothing that stuck around. Just the cold temps, and nothing in the forecast for the foreseeable future.
