Snow in the DC-MD-VA area

I have to drive to BWI today and I’m not looking forward to it.

This was some easy shoveling snow. I took care of the walk; the rest of the family can dig the cars out. There’s really no reason to start on that until they plow our block, though. Looking ahead to next weekend, it could get nasty again. We’ve got to get number two son to Ithaca by Monday. Oldest is closer and doesn’t have to be there until Friday the 25th.

Same in St. Mary’s county. Apparently they believe the laws of physics don’t apply if you have a big-ass truck or SUV.

Nice snowfall and refreshingly less-than-cataclysmic general effect. ( Yes I’m still in DC)

Boss’ Right Hand messaged last night “everyone can telework”. By late morning today almost everyone not in a public-facing post was at the office anyway because (a) it’s not that bad and (b) there are things that would only back up worse since they require moving hard copy out the door and there are deadlines.

Shoveled for the third time to get out this morning. Tysons Corner. 9" in my yard. As usual, got plowed in. OTOH we have new neighbors with a snow blower and they cleaned my sidewalk for me!

Also, thanks for not calling it DMV.

I moved to this area in 1983 and noticed that too. I drive 270 north to go to work and average speed is 70 in a 55 but I often get passed by someone doing 90 changing lanes every couple of seconds.

Everywhere I have driven, I have always seen people slip through a light just after it turns red. But in DC, it was the first time I had ever seen someone run a red light before it turned green.

I just drove to Leonardtown - Rt 5 was dry except for the spots where it appeared hunks of snow fell off cars driving along. My commute tomorrow will be a piece of cake.

Family is doing the rest of the snow clearing. Ms. P is getting our main car cleared off, oldest son shoveled path to the car from the yard and from the car to the street (he confirmed it was light snow), and younger son cleaned off his car and dug it out. I assume DC schools will open on time tomorrow.
