Snow snow SNOW!!!

Yes, finally, it’s going to snow in DC. 2-4" they say, and it’s going to be beautiful. Giant supermarket was mobbed tonight (I bought bread, the two people in front of me in line bought milk), it’s cold and windy, and I don’t mind, because snow is coming!

Whoo!

Snow snow snow!!!

1-3" up here in Columbia!

I can’t wait!!! WOO!

What the hell is snow?
It’s about 35°C over here. Can you send us some snow?

We had snow up here in Vancouver… It started snowing at 11pm… had about 2 inches on the ground by 2am (when I got out of the christmas party I was attending)… It had slowed down by 3am, when I got to sleep… by 10 the next morning it was pouring rain and all the snow was slush…

I didn’t get to make a single snowball.

Stupid ocean - moderating the damn climate.

The day after it was clear and warm (10C)… not even frost to be seen.

It’s getting colder again, so maybe we’ll get some more. Then I’ll go out of my way to make a snowball at the very least.

Hey, it’s supposed to snow here in Tennessee tonight, as well! 1-3" by morning!

Of course, this means the streets (and ditches) will soon be full of yuppie women in SUVs who thought that four-wheel drive was equal to “I-can-drive-in-any-condition-at-any-speed-because-I-am-invincible!!”

Let’s see, we had a light dusting of snow in September, more in early October, and real snow right at the beginnning of November. This past week the temperature never rose above minus 20 Celcius.

What’s all the fuss about???

Well, I just woke up, here in Atlanta, to an insane newscast on out local NBC channel. They have live people out all across the city.
OOOH! an update-the first county school system has announced a closing. You know, it wouldn’t offend me if they said that the office was going to be closed today.

It’s very, very pretty though-about an inch and a half where I am. Nice pretty big flakes. I can’t remember the last year I saw snow before Christmas. Yes, I can, it was when I was in Maine, winter of 1994/1995. :stuck_out_tongue:

Officially, we have about 1 1/2 inches here right now and it is still coming down pretty good. The (one) cab service in town is not running because they say the roads are too slippery! I guess it’s good that I’m working a double shift today! I don’t have to go out in it until this afternoon!

Hmm…I guess I’ll be eating lunch in the cafeteria today. Wonder what they’re having…choice of steak and mushrooms, chicken risotto or fried fish. Also having pizza and they’ve got vegetable soup…I might just make it!

I guess maybe Vancouver would be a good place to move to.

We have had two large snowstorms so far this winter, which hasn’t even yet officially begun. In between, we have been getting just your standard 2-3" every night. The snow is 3 feet deep in the yard, it was 2 degrees Fahrenheit yesterday morning.

We are trying to finish construction on our new (work) building enough to move in after Christmas, but we can’t even get the concrete poured for the truck dock.

Maybe New Zealand would be good.

To hell with snow.

Hey, Montie and Falcon, maybe now I can leave my virtual snowball fight and start a REAL one!!

:glove slap:
[taunt]Yeah, just come on down to Bowie if ya’ know what’s good fer ya! [/taunt]

We getting rain and 55 degrees today.
And mom had offered to pay for a flight home to New York.
Dang.
Guess I’ll go get some ice chips and wax nostalgic.

We may get flurries here in Jax, and it sure as heck FEELS like snow out there - biting cold, grey, overcast, windy… I thought I left this behind when I left Virginia…

But talk about a place where people have NO IDEA how to drive if the roads get slick. Body shops make a killing every time we get our occasional 10 flakes or freezing rain. I’m looking at this as prep for my 3 weeks in DC in January. BRRRRRRRR!!

I’m in mid MI, where we’re about to break an all-time most snow in December record (somewhere around 30 inches), we had a 15 inch snow storm a week ago, a few 5 inchers since then, snow virtually every day, and for the foreseeable future, and we’re due to leave for DC on Saturday. I was soooooooooooo looking forward to seeing dry pavement, for at least a little while. Now, I guess I’ll have to stay in the basement and get drunk or something.

Bah-Humbug! <doing an anti-snow chant and dance before the precipitation gods>

And…I can’t believe there are snow plows WITH DRIVERS in them just sitting in the berms of the Beltway waiting for the snow. There are actually people in my office talking about needing to have their mates pick them up because they can’t drive in snow, etc. It would be sad if it weren’t so funny.
Peta, Ohio snowbelt born and raised

We’ve been socked a few times already too, but always in a part of the state that I haven’t been in. 1-3" predicted, we’ll see. I’m not even gonna worry about the grocery store, even though I suspect that in NC, rushing to buy milk and bread is not only a good idea, it’s the law! (well, maybe it’s not a good idea as such. What are you gonna do, have milk sandwiches?)

I like a little snow as much as the next guy, but here in Chi, we have plenty, thank you. As with Mich, we are flirting with a December record. We probably have about 1.5’ on the ground. (Thankfully a major storm missed us last Fri.) Jan and Feb could be mighty long and drear indeed. Oh yeah - it’s cold out too. With temps not expected to get above 32 for the next week or so, I’d say we’re guaranteed of a white Christmas.

Now I remember why I should’ve bought a truck instead of another sports car. Left Centreville at 9am, no snow in sight except for a couple flakes coming down. Got to Ashburn around 9:20 and the roads there were covered. Made a turn onto the street in front of my building, woot, there goes the rear end, and without me giving it gas. Come to a stop in front of my building to make a left, give it as little gas as I possibly can… haha, traction? Whats that? Had to park at the rear of the building cause I was scared I’d nail someone if I tried to park in the lot. Looking out my window now, looks like they finally salted.

Moral of this story:
300ZX + snow = death

I kid you not. It flurried here for awhile this morning. In Jackson, MS!. Day-um.

And my Mother had to call and tell me. Juliana’s estatic, as it hasn’t snowed here since our wedding, Dec 97. We got 7 inches of snow that night.

12.07pm, Dupont Circle, downtown Washington, DC:

No snow yet, but the Doppler radar implies that it’s imminent.

I can’t wait!!!

It’s flurrying here now!!!
