My wife and I spent the weekend at a local mountain resort here in Washington state, cabins, no phones, no tv, fireplace and private hot tubs outside on decks. We had to go into four wheel drive to go from the cabin to the lodge for dinner and the drive back. We then dashed through the knee deep snow out to the hot tub. We had cones of snow atop our heads as we sat in the hot tub watching the snow falling through the firs, pines and cedars, wonderful time.
Yay I’m waiting for snow (1-3 inches starting in an hour), I’m also waiting for the idiots at the shop to finish work on my car.
Oh well I’ll get to test out my car in the snow
Ugh. Screw that shit. We’ve received nearly a foot in the last week, plus nearly an inch of rain. And it’s starting again. S’posed to get about 4 more this afternoon and evening. Oh yeah, the extended forecast predicts snow for Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Bah! Humbug!
Dammit, where’s my snow! It’s not doing ANYTHING up here yet.
Most insane school system so far today: Anne Arundel County (where I grew up!) Opened 2 hours late, is closing one hour early. There is currently NO snow in Annapolis.
::bowing and blowing kisses::
“Thank you. Thank you all! It’s been my pleasure!”
Ahhh, I do so love snow.
I’m with you (aren’t you in Ohio?), we’re supposed to be driving through that shit all the way to DC (leaving some time Saturday). I get to drive the MI - Ohio leg (it’s flat), SO gets to drive Penn/Md (hills). yeck.
We’re getting a flurry, which most likely will turn into more.
Which is fine, because I now am done with exams until May.
I want snow!!! Damn my parents for ever moving to Florida. Well, don’t damn them, just I want to live someplace where the seasons change in a way other than rainfall.
We’ve already had 2 serious storms and we’re expecting 3"-4" more in the next day with no end in sight for the next 4-5 days. Bleachh! (Hint: I’m about a 30 min. drive from Buffalo, where Hell freezes over on a regular basis).
Cheers,
Hodge
Why are you people so excited about snow? In Minnesnowta, there’s about 18 inches or so on the ground. It’s also clear and cold, (about 3 degrees, with a negative windchill) so the roads are nice and icy, which means going out is suicidal. I am so stir-crazy, if I don’t see civilization soon, I may be forced to kill my husband.

Well, you’ll be fine as long as you don’t eat him after you do. When the police come, just plead SAD (seasonal affective disorder)!
Michigand checking in again: Who wants snow!? /New Yorker voice/ SNOW?!! I gotch’er snow! /New Yorker voice/
Well it’s almost 2 in Silver Spring and I’ve seen a couple of flakes. Some of those were snow too!
Doh, well the SECOND I post there’s no snow it starts coming down. oh well.
Just started up here in Columbia, too. WOOHOO!
I want snow too.
I’m supposed to live in a cold country
and no snow so far this winter.
And for the ones that don’t now wich country I live in,
it’s Sweden, Stockholm.
I’m with UncleB too. All you people waxing desirous over snow can damn well get your asses up here and shovel out my driveway.
There isn’t nearly enough snow outside. msrobyn is right when she says that we’ve got over a foot and a half outside- and I think she may be underestimating that by a few inches. It’s not even remotely cold enough, either!
Bah, humbug! Back in the day (er, um, well, 1993-ish, but still ‘the day’) the weather was so cold that the governor declared that every school in the state was closed, even private schools, because it would be inhuman to require kids to wait for school buses outside with -85 degree windchill. It was a welcome change from watching the news in the morning watching school closings and praying that ours closed too.
So, of course, my friends and I took advantage of the day off to go sledding and play in the snow. I guess in retrospect I’m lucky I didn’t lose too many fingers and toes.
checking in.
It’s 3:00 in Uppuh Marbruh and it just started to flurry.
(and we’ve closed schools 2 hours early!)
God I love the over-reacting in the DC area!
Few hundred yards SE of Montfort (McPherson Square) and it’s coming down pretty steadily. But as far as New Hampshire goes, this ain’t SHIT. I don’t think there’d even have been a delayed opening with this kind of weather. Gov’t offices are still open as of 3:30, so they’re probably gonna stay open standard business hours. Not that people haven’t skedaddled already, so it’s nice and quiet over here. Aaah, time to play with Illustrator and surf the SDMB. Not like I don’t do that already.
Husband? What husband? urrp
