Whelp, we’ve got what we’ve got. Truth be told, neither she nor Sanders has that kind of charisma, and that’s not going to change. But Hillary will be the nominee.
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say Hillary wins the Hair Vote.
I’m not sure on the jokes thing, but I wouldn’t drink with Trump if he paid me. The ‘pig’ thing would rub off on me by association, and I wouldn’t be able to get a date with any of the female patrons.
Item 1. Think Trump University where he defrauded so many people. Honesty, yep.
Item 2. Good intentions? Ask the court of World opinion. That’s a resounding no.
Item 3. Smartness? It was smart to alienate minorities, women, and others? Okay.
Item 4. Charisma? About the same as a loud fart in a movie theater.
Fortunately, Trump isn’t smart enough to make it to November without stepping on his nutsack a few dozen times. He’ll sink himself.
I’m not too worried, as I don’t see Trump being able to switch tactics well enough to go after the moderates. The one thing that gives me pause are the Sanders supporters who say they will stay home, and I just hope they would have stayed home anyways. (The ones saying they will vote for Trump I think are mostly saying so tactically.)
But, yeah, he has to have a higher chance now than he did, just by being the official candidate. And he did get that bump.
I try my best not to worry about it. I tell myself the same comforting things, but I’ve seen how he acts. If he can actually win the presidency, then he’s gonna keep doing the shit he’s been doing, since it worked. Maybe old Trump might not have been that scary, but this new one is.
He’s shitty enough to do stuff like pardon people for not paying taxes, to get people to use his tax plan. He would be the type that would let the government shut down. And, yes, he uses so much bluster that he could wreck a lot of things for us internationally.
At least Bush had the restraint of trying to seem like a good guy.
Disagree with the entire post obviously. But he will lose easily to Hillary anyways. She is far ahead. People will see the real picture emerge when she is even more ahead in polls when Bernie is out.
How many times have people said that over the past year or so? I don’t think ANYTHING could stop him, short of his own death (and no, I don’t want that to happen either).
The more Trump steps on his figurative nuts, the more his fans adore him for it. And the more the media will give Mr. Trump free air time.
I think the Lefts biggest mistake is that they think they can make rational arguments to Trump fans as to why Trump would be a bad President. The don’t give two shits about rationality, they realize that a nuclear option has been made available to them, and by god, they will use that option come November 1st.
He’s been a reality star for longer than we’ve had the term “reality star”. He was a reality star back when the internet barely existed and cable tv was still province of Wayne’s World and Australian Rules Football. You don’t see anyone giving Sheldon Adelson or Richard Mellon Scaife their own tv shows.
Charisma is why everyone overlooks the lies, the viciousness, and the ignorance. They don’t matter to his supporters, who are blinded by his glamour.
They also assume that the average person in this country will see that Trump is unqualified and unfit to be commander in chief and that Hillary’s resume will impress. It’s true that the republican field was rather weak, but Trump did beat a couple of impressive resumes in Jeb Bush, John Kasich, and to a lesser degree, Chris Christie. Hillary is not at all a safe bet to win.
Which is why she may have to go a little harder to the left in this campaign than I would have envisioned initially. She needs a breakout choice for her vice president, either Elizabeth Warren, Al Franken, or someone of that magnitude. I would have said Bernie Sanders but he’s going off his chain as of late.
Wasn’t this supposed to be the Year of the Deep Bench their partisans kept crowing about? Now they’re all just a bunch of schlubs who couldn’t even beat Trump.
His chances, even against the Dem advantage in the EC, are far from zero, as long as the fear and hate he’s whipped up can continue. Clinton is still a strong favorite but not a lock.
The republicans touted themselves as having a deep bench, which really meant a stack of candidates committed to uncompromising legislative obstructionism until they achieve complete control of the government. In reality, they were far from a deep bench. And in the end, only one can emerge the victor, whether it’s a field of 22 or just 2.
