So, anyone want to take bets on

how long it will take before the bin Laden conspiracy theories start to bubble to the surface? I imagine that they’ll be very common in the Muslim world soon enough - people will be claiming that it wasn’t really bin Laden. Presumably Israeli involvement will be claimed somehow.

Will we see a strong current of Republicans claiming (or carefully trying to imply) that this was made up to distract from the birth certificate or other issues? I rather doubt that any serious Republican elected officials would go that far, but then again, I never expected anyone to run with the birth certificate stuff either.

Perhaps I’m just too cynical…

Well it really does look made up. I’d love for it to be true but couldn’t they have at least taken a damn photograph before immediately disposing of the body?

I’d be shocked if they didn’t take a lot of photos, plus DNA samples. There are any number of reasons that they might not be talking about that yet.

When I first heard about his death I googled “osama dead” and the second link was a conspiracy site. So the answer is about 10 hours.

I can beat that.

Within an hour of the official press release from Obama, I had someone on my Facebook friends list (who may not stay on there very much longer) starting to go on about how he believed Bin Laden’s death wasn’t real. Someone in Australia no less.
