I’m still undecided even at this late date. I’ve been around for a long time and enjoyed the community here, met a lot of great people. But I hardly ever find myself moved to post these days, and there aren’t too many people who even know who I am around here any more. I’ve been very disappointed by the administration for a while now, and even though $7.50 for a year ain’t hardly nuthin’–I happily pay $25/year for a LiveJournal subscription–I’m not sure I want to support the board as it currently exists. I’m leaning towards no, but I felt the same way a year ago and went ahead and re-upped, so who knows?

I don’t post a lot, what with trying to finish my thesis and all, but I figured, what the heck? Maybe after I graduate, I’ll be posting a lot more.

Yes, though I lost Charter status last year because I hadn’t realised that I’d forgotten to update my Paypal account. I’m paying for the search function and the number of posts it covers more than anything.
Geobabe, that’s exactly what I was thinking. I pay for LJ, too. And frankly I feel more of a sense of community over there these days than I do here. (Though to be fair, there still are great people here.)
Having said that, I have not resubscribed. And I’ve got a day to go…

Hey, Geobabe, I know you and am always glad for any rare Geobabe appearances online these days. It would suck for me if you left, taking with you a significant part of my personal Dope history, as the first Doper I ever met F2F.

Yep. As others have said, a small price to pay to support the community, no matter its flaws.
And, I’m going to make an effort to at some point be the guy who’s been around the longest with the most posts about whom no one really remembers much.

scout1222, Geobabe and SolGrundy, I sincerely hope you all decide to re-up. I would happily pay for each of you if I weren’t the most dirt-broke I’ve ever been. If only the deadline were in July when I have some money! I always looked out for all three of you guys’ posts here, and I would be sad to see you go.

I couldn’t not re-up; having the use of the search function was the deciding factor.
Just reuped yesterday. Thank Og I decided to check my “junk email” folder otherwise I’d have been completely confused when I tried to post and couldn’t.
I don’t know why I wanted to reup. I just felt like I had to. I sold my internet soul to the goons at Something Awful and the Dope kind of fell by the wayside. I still check it regularly and if I want a true opinion on something, I’ll ask you guys here.
Also I’ve been here for like four years and haven’t really “met” anyone. I think I have talked to two people from the boards on messenger but only for a short time, so it’s not like I’m really getting anything out of it. I’ve been on Something Awful for less than a month and already have a couple of regular contacts on messenger, tons of MySpace friends and have even talked to a few people on the phone/through text messaging.
