I’m back for another year of mostly lurking!

Nice to see all the people changing their minds and sticking around after all.

By my count there were sixteen people in this thread who said that they were probably not or definitely not renewing their membership and only one followed through. Every year it’s the same thing.

I am not really sure what is going on here in this thread at this point, but there are some really awesome people here and I will re’up when the time is due as long as they are.

For me it’s mostly the bitterness and the bile.
They look a lot like shoes, to me. Y’know: things to put on one’s feet to keep the small stones from tearing up one’s soles or grinding dirt into one’s stockings.
I did, even though I hardly ever have time to post.
I signed up again. hoping to have more time this year to hang out at the board.
I considered not doing so because intellectually I know I would accomplish more if I didn’t have the SDMB as a major distraction. OTOH I knew that I would still lurk, and that if I lurked then sooner or later I’d HAVE to post, and then I’d have to create a free account and keep doing so, blah blah, so I did. As a charter member it’s cheaper than 2 movie rentals and I’ll definitely get a lot more pleasure, laughs and education over the next year from this than I would from renting Ice Age 2 and Zoolander, so I ultimately reupped.
I see about nine that didn’t sign up. Their title still says charter member, but they’ve lost their post counts.

It’s funny, I’ve been lurking for over 6 years, registered for 5, I think, but I’m so inconsistent about posting, most people probably have no clue when they see my (admittedly boring) user name - which, honestly, is just fine by me as I get a great deal out of the boards and kind of like being under the radar here. But, it’s also really nice to see a familiar face that remembers me and I really appreciate it and hope all is well with you (and with your new job, especially! See, I do lurk!)
I reupped a couple of weeks ago. I figure it’s still a good price when I consider how much boredom it’s cured and how much entertainment it’s given me. Besides, there are people around here I’d miss!
