Welcome home! I remember your wife’s photograph. She’s lovely.
I’ve been to Paris since I saw you last. Very unusual for an agoraphobic who hadn’t flown in 30 years. 16 years of therapy is finally working.
And I’m legally adopting my step-daughter. That’s been in the works for the last ten months. We’d better hurry. She turns forty in January and I don’t adopt older children.
We plan to celebrate the adoption, her graduation from law school and my granddaughter’s sixteenth birthday with a trip to Ireland ourselves next spring. (Fair warning…)
So we play the Netherlands tomorrow, 5 pm my time (at least that’s broadcast), which should put the match about 11 pm in the lowlands.
Since things speculated on by me in this thread seem to be coming true, I should mention that I also expect to win the lottery next Saturday and Bush to resign in shame over revelations of an “improper relationship” with SecDef Donald Rumsfeld.
Howdy! Long time, no see. Actually, I haven’t bought the tickets or posted elsewhere yet, but a trip to Spain and the UK is in the works for November 10-20, and I’m hoping to get some LonDopers together the night of the 19th (will be in the UK to see my college roomie on the way home, but she lives in Middle of Nowhere, Kent, with the sheep and little huts that look straight out of Middle Earth).
Can’t go to the UK without a night in London, as I have to fly out of Heathrow in any case, and what better way to spend a night in London? I’ll probably post here and/or on NADS once the tickets have been bought.
Glad things are going well for you guys, and one of these days I’ll have to get to Amsterdam to meet the long-lost Latvian/Lithuanian/South African/Israeli/Dutch relatives. (Was thinking about it for this trip, but Andalucia called.) Would be great to meet you if you can make it to London!
gum: the innured cat is Vincent, aka Fatboy.
Basically, the knee disc keeps slipping off. Apparently, it can be easily resolved, but the poor thing will need 6 weeks of “cage rest” afterwards. Oh, and it costs €500.
Johnny: I’m assuming the Euro itinerary includes a trip to Holland, and a motorbike rental?
Shib: yup, we will meet in the quarters! What a conundrum this is in the Coldfire household. Stars and stripes vs. All Orange. I want my lads to win, but I also want to get laid again in 2005. Tough one!
Yeah, well, they said cage rest in case he’s unsupervised. So, at night, and such. It’s OK to have him on your lap when you’re watching TV, but he’s not allowed to run and jump under any circumstances for four to six weeks.
Oh, I’ve been getting by. I finally took that trip to Dublin that I had won, and it was great; however, I’ve returned and am now suffering the maliase knows as My Life.
If you do make it to Amsterdam, I’d like to join in on the meet up with the local SDMB crew - I work at the Leidsesquare so I can crawl from work into the pub and back.
Twisty, dunno if a Dublin trip will happen this year, but I’ll see what I can do. If anything, spring might be an option. Burned all my holiday time for the year already, so it’s either a weekend trip this year or a slightly longer one in 06. Either way, a pint of Guinness from a Dublin pub is a treat not to be missed - for more than 3 years or so. Then you have to get back there - or move there.
Arwin: but of course we wouldn’t do those touristy bars at Leidse, now would we?
Did your mother pass away, John? If so, I’m sorry to hear it.
But a DubDope in 06… why not? What are your travel dates going to look like? The assorted Eurotrash is a lot more flexible to get over to Dublin than you are, I’m assuming. So let’s see some dates, and plan accordingly!
No idea of any dates. I’ve been itching to get out of the country for a long time, but work or lack of funds have been interfering. Got a film starting in a week and a half. ( :dubious: We’re still tweaking the script!) After shooting there are the holidays, and then there’s editing, foley, looping, soundtrack, finding a distributor… I’m guessing late-Spring at the earliest.
But I definitely need to get out of here for a bit. I’ll let everyone know when I’m coming.
