We do it sporadically, most often when someone’s in from out of town. (IIRC, you couldn’t make the one for ArchiveGuy at the last minute.)

SiamSam is coming to Philly – see his IMHO thread – and I think we’ll try to do something for him.

Probably 30 or so. I’ve been to fests in Amsterdam, London (many times), Dublin (a few times), York, Prague, and San Francisco. It was only the first fest in London where I didn’t know anyone, at all the others there was at least one person I’d met previously.

Probably around 100, maybe more, at Dopefests in various NorCal cities, SLO, Chicago, NYC, and Las Vegas. And I also married one.

I’ve very happily been to Dopefests in both Ohio and New Jersey, and have met, among others, BMalion, What Exit?, An Gadai, kittenblue, elmwood, MisterThyristor, samclem, Gfactor, TubaDiva and Loach. A helluva interesting and engaging bunch o’ folks, without exception.

We’ve had two dopefests that I know of here in S. FLA. I met a dozen or so dopers at the one in Tampa and a few more at the one in Orlando.

Southern Yankee lives up the road from me, and our kids are in the same grade at the same school. He also works with my wife.

You all should head down to the Waxhaw Pub Crawl, hosted by our own Southern Yankee in April. It’s fun, it shoots business to Downtown Waxhaw (we’ve got TTHREE stoplights now), and it raises money for a good cause. Best of all, it’s after Lent.

That’s funny cuz my same friend just got called back to Redmond at the end of March! Sadly, I am way to broke to jet-set to the west coast this year.
