So how's YOUR Friday the 13th so far?

I woke up this morning feeling like a fully grown mountain troll was sitting on my chest, coughing my brains out and my sinuses felt like my son had shoved wads of PlayDoh up between my eyeballs.

Which was great until…I rolled over and discovered that my cat had knocked over the glass of water I keep by the bed into a small paper bag I had next to the bed with one of my current knitting projects in it–a gray cardigan made out of a wool blend yarn. And the entire thing…from the cardigan (still on the needles…I had just finished the shoulder yoke) to the grapefruit-sized ball of yarn was soaking wet.
Drying the part of my work still on the needles…not so bad. Trying to dry out the eightylevenbillion yards of wool blend yarn…FUN galore.

It took two chairs and a good forty five minutes for me to get it all on there so hopefully it will dry out by the time I go pick up Slim from school here in a couple hours.

I then had to go out to a local library to return some stuff…which wasn’t too bad until I got there. And discovered their elevator was out of order. I returned the stuff I had but there was more stuff I wanted…on the 4th floor. So I had to climb all the way up there (2 sets of stairs per floor, 13 steps per flight of stairs) and by the time I got up there, I was wheezing like an asthmatic elephant.

I swear, there is nothing else that can POSSIBLY go wrong today.

Let’s see:

-Last night…technically after midnight if you’re on the east coast, so it counts!..a half dozen bees decided to camp in our living room, much to the don’t-give-a-badger attitude of our cats, who grew bored once said bees were rendered flightless. But we just kept finding bees…

-6 hours later, both my husband and I woke up at 4 a.m. No idea why, no earthquakes, no reason I shouldn’t have slept right through, since I do not get up without a cause, hehe. Once I am awake, however, I cannot go back to sleep, so…I got up.

-Husband’s creamer at work froze in the fridge; I call it ‘ice-creamer’. He’s less amused.

-SW:TOR patch today; ok, it’s a few hours, plenty to do anyway.

-Oh, wait…the patch is going to be ALL DAY?

I’m going back to sleep.

 After you get hit by a deorbiting bit of space junk this afternoon, we’ll take up a collection to send flowers.

So far, I’ve overslept, had my doorknob come off in my hand, got hit in the face by a bee going about 45mph, and had an annoyingly bureaucratic but not unfavorable performance review…or not.

Actually, only the review happened today; each of the other things happened a separate morning this week. So far, Friday the Thirteenth has been the best day of my week. (Monday isn’t in the running because it was Monday, which is intrinsically worse than the minor mishaps on the other days.)

Lousy. I left my purse and my lunch at home. I’ve been sitting at my desk wearing sunglasses, because my glasses are in my purse. At least I had some stuff to snack on, so I can wait till I get home to have lunch.

Awake for the most part since 0230.

Was out for two days with a sick little boy, so have a ton of catching up to do at work. Not even to voice mails yet.

OTOH, somebody gave me their package of guacamole at lunch…so things are looking up.

Sounds like y’all are having as much as I am.

Also, while I was driving home from the library, my car key fell out of the ignition…again. I think the switch thingie is just old and worn, because the keys fall out all the time while I’m driving (the car is always stuck in drive, so it’s not like I run the risk of an accident) but it’s ESPECIALLY fun when you’re going 50 mph down the freeway and all of a sudden…flunk they’re on the floor and you’re going “OOOOH CRAP! Those motherblarging keys fell out again? WTF?” and trying to find a good way to reach down, grab them and shove them back into the ignition.

Actually, it’s great. Today I got my first paycheck of my new job. The job I started last week, after having been unemployed for almost four months.

Shitty. Got some parts from a supplier, doesn’t look like they’re going to work. $4000 possibly down the drain.

Here…have some guacamole. You need it more than I do.

I’m tired despite having gotten enough sleep. My stomach feels weird. And I’m sitting here reading my yearly review, and wondering what the fuck my supervisor was smoking when she wrote it. I’m guessing pot. Or crack.

Mostly uneventful so far. Postal carrier thoughtlessly failed to deliver a check I’ve been eagerly awaiting but nothing else negative to report. Gotta go to work soonish - I’m not looking forward to that.

'Preciate that. Mmmm guacamole. I’m seeing margaritas in my future too. And probably some gin…shots of Jameson…

It’s just noon and today has already been a doozy.

I will start off by saying that I am having major issues with depression at the moment so even the little things are big for me right now.

At 4:00 my baby decided that he was up and I tried for about an hour and a half to get him to sleep and in process he woke up the two year old.

I was looking forward to my book club tonight, but my babysitter called in sick with the stomach flu, so my night out will turn into a night in.

And the biggest issue needs more back story than I am willing to give, but long story short. I am on Mat. leave right now and my employer is currently screwing me over big time. I got a message from them today about how they want to set up a meeting with me to discuss “major departmental changes” aka bend over and take it however we say. I am legitimately not available on the only day they can meet and so, to make it easier they offered to come to my house to meet. Yea, that is just what I want. To play hostess to the two jackasses while trying to talk business, breastfeed my baby and entertain my two year old. That sounds fantastic, and so much easier. Not to mention having to scrub my disaster of a house from top to bottom so I can put on a false front of being put together and responsible. I suggested skype instead.

Whoohoo, congrats! I’m in Month 2 of being laid off; after I get back from a much-desired-but-previously-unscheduleable trip home to visit family, I will be officially cranky about it.

Work-wise, it’s been absolutely normal. So far the only bad thing that’s happened is my dog is having some intestinal issues. She’s on the floor near my chair quietly, then with no warning - pssss!

Stinky doesn’t begin to describe the result.

Came to work an hour late wearing yesterday’s clothes and skipping my morning hygiene. I have a horrible headache and don’t want to be here at all. Think I might leave early.

Been normal so far. The cafeteria had a new soup on the menu “spicy spud” which is really good so my day is looking up. Although it is supposed to start raining a couple of hours before my commute home so the freeways have a chance to get all mucked up before I get on them. So we’ll see.

Your Friday the 13th might suck, but it sounds like your Thursday the 12th kicked ass!

Positively great. I took sleeping pills last night and slept for a solid 11 hours. I woke up feeling fully-rested. I stopped for lunch on my way to work (which I usually don’t have time to do). And, although there have been SOME crazies on the phones at work today, I just helped a guy in WV who was getting royally screwed by his employer. I feel fantastic, for once

Got my paycheck yesterday. Nothing different today. Read The New York Times this morning. Had a KFC Snacker. Got my haircut. Friday the 13th is always extra special when it falls in April. Lately, I’ve been seeing alot of people walking outside. Might have to do that later. I have to help out a family member later, though. She needs help with a case of water, groceries brought to her house. Once I do my good deed for the day, I might see The Hunger Games again tonight.

I will celebrate today by watching The Tale of the Thirteenth Floor.
