I had a thread about the pros/cons of cutting all your hair off in IMHO but this seems like just random information.
So, for anyone who is thinking about chopping, I finally did it and I’m more happy with the results than not happy. My hair was down to the middle of my back but naturally curly and very fine == total disaster sometimes.
It’s been about a week since the big CHOP. I think it looks good. I guess the biggest thing is that when I had long hair, it looked like blech most of the time but on the weekend when I would go out, it could look great if I blew it dry, got the EXACT amount of de-frizz cream concoction going, and stayed indoors. Now, I feel like I don’t have that ooo-la-la thing going but I look more normal and good on a day-to-day basis.
Anyway, I just wanted to report in on the findings.
Wow. I’m glad it’s working for you. I felt daring enough a few weeks ago when I got my hair cut from waist-length to around the bottom of my shoulder blades. I can’t imagine chopping it all off, tempting though it may be when it’s hot out. Of course, I also have really thick curly hair, so I’d be afraid of a bad haircut resulting in the Ronald McDonald look.
Now what we need are before and after photos, so we can all tell you how great your new look is.
I recently chopped my hair off after having long hair for, oh, 25 years or more. Not the exact same style for all those years, mind, but then again, long hair’s long hair.
My hairdresser was more worried about it than I was. He fretted and hemmed and hawed for a good 10 minutes. I finally had to tell him to shaddap & just get on with it.
It was long past time and I’m more than happy with it. It looks great, feels great and somehow (bonus!) made me look younger. It’s quite versatile, but I can be slapdash with it and it still looks good.
And good riddance to twenty-minute blow-drying sessions!
Thanks for the congrats! It was quite a change. ms mac I was totally afraid of the Ronald McDonald look because my hair is quite curly. In fact, my hairdresser did the initial cut and blow dry and I did look like Ronald. I told her to go shorter, which she did and it ended up looking good. I think with this kind of hair you have to either be long or REALLY short - in between would have looked too puffy.
Triss I know what you mean about the 20 minute (at least) blow dry sessions – good riddance!!!
