So I Guess We Need A MMP

teela, my SIL used to make French toast around the holidays with eggnog subbing for the milk and egg. It was quite good.

cookie, your meatball recipe sounds pretty similar to my own.

flyboy, I use a repurposed yogurt container as a grease disposal vehicle. It’s something that would otherwise go to the recycling center, so I put it into the dumpster (I’m in an apartment, don’t judge) full of grease instead. The container stays in the fridge until it’s full.

Today was fairly slothful, other than the usual Sunday chores. I made goulash and some fried cabbage with caraway for supper. 'Tis good.

I meant bacon fat to fry the hash browns in. Your gravy sounds somewhat like mine. I use Jimmy Dean sage sausage, bacon, and I add additional sage and ground fennel, salt & pepper, perhaps a dash of cayenne. Finish with a dollop of butter to silk it up.

Just got back from erranding. Shamrock Shakes are currently available, so we each got one. Miniature Emperor is handling dinner tonight, to fulfill Pi(e) Day. Laundry is churning and a couple of other minor tasks loom.

Somebody on the innerwebz, It may have been Jacque Pepin, I dunno, was saying to just melt some vanilla ice cream in a dish and soak your bread in that to make french toast. I haven’t tried it yet, but it sounds like it would work.

The kids have left for home and we’re all alone. It’s a 3 hour drive. We’ll make BLTs for dinner. They left the rest of the cakes* here. We’re of two minds about that, but we’ll deal.
I had a small piece of each last night and woke up about 5am soaked with sweat. I shoulda remembered, but I so seldom have that much sugar at one time I guess I forgot.
Eternal vigilance is the price of freedom, or some such.

I should go get the bacon ready for the oven.

  • we had a German chocolate and a tiramisu

Jimmy Dean’s Sage sausage (or original, if I can’t get sage), 2 rashers bacon cut into 32 pieces, milk, kosher salt, freshly-ground black pepper, and a dash of cayenne pepper.

See what you did…

Long bath and longer nap took care of most of the early evening, I was tempted to just stay there, but figured that amount of sloth was beyond even me. Sammiches are being consumed in concert with my typing this (just a moment). Rain is predicted to show up around 10am and stick around all day, so shopping need to be early Moanday.

FCM, that’s a pretty full day, enjoy your chillage. Perhaps SIL can get his brother and some friends to help move soil from there to there.

OK, now that I’m up I need to read the paper and watch some TV, so all y’all take care and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.

Tonight: Rib-eye steaks cooked on the grill, and creamed spinach with feta. I ate half of my steak, and seconds on the spinach. (Tonka helped me with my steak.)

Try some ground fennel next time. It complements the sage in a nice way.

I got busy and haven’t had time to post but have read all. Just wanted to ask for a moment of silence for all the parents trying hard to get little ones into bed tonight over protests of, “It’s still light out!” Reason #112 for hating Daylight Savings Time. Tomorrow, let’s be sympathetic toward teachers who are tired from the change and who are trying to get cranky, sleepy kids to learn something, as well as all workers who’ll be struggling on minimal sleep. Reason #113.

This Grandma is al tuckered out from convincing a 3.75 year old to go to bed when it was still light out. I was tired to begin with because I could not convince my brain’s sleep center to let me fall asleep in time to be rested this morning. Sheesh.

I’m with you on this one, I’m giving all of them days of grace for hanging in. At least my 13 year old sometime roomie isn’t with us this week-her dad has her and will have to get her up and moving to school a biological hour early. Won’t be pretty.
