So I rolled my car today...

I hit a snow drift on the way to work this morning. Probably at around 80kph. Spun about 90 degrees, hit the ditch, and then rolled completely over and back onto my wheels. Fortunately I escaped without as much as a single bruise or scrape. I made sure to go to the hospital to make sure. The doctor says I’m in complete good health with a small amount of back aggravation. On the down side…I suspect my car will be written off…this is not what I needed right now.

I am thankful to be alive, and am thankful no one else was involved. I hate my commute. I also hate all the drama in my life these days. Is it funny that I dream to be a boring person in a quiet cubicle job where no one knows my name? I could take the bus to work and be a bookworm instead of being a crazy road warrior band teacher. I’ll be writing my resignation letter in a couple of weeks (this was a plan before the accident). This accident has removed all doubt I need to change jobs.

Again though…looking on the bright side of life is the only way to be truly happy. If I have learned anything these past six months…it’s that there are always good things happening even in the bad times. On the positive side…I didn’t have to go to work today.

I hope all of your weekends are starting off a bit better than mine. Take care on the roads!

Yikes! Glad you’re ok.

Congratulations on still being alive.

Jeez, that’s terrifying! Happy to hear you’re OK - that could have really been a not OK outcome and glad your car did its job though totaled in the end. Was it worth enough that you’ll at least have some fun “new” car shopping? Another bright side to look on if that’s so.

Hope you recover quickly from any bumps, bruises, or nervousness on the road after this, and good luck with the new job search.

The thing that really sucks about this is that there isn’t a video of it.
I totaled a car once back when I was sixteen. (I walked away unhurt) I wish I had video of it.

Glad to hear you’re okay. A 360 roll-over is a bit uncommon!

Were you anywhere near that 100 metre long snowdrift that was blocking the Yellowhead?

Glad you came out of it OK.

Next time, wear a video cam.

It’s kind of exciting isn’t it?

That sounds scary as shit! Good thing you were wearing your seatbelt, and landed upright.

Seems like everyone I know had an accident this winter. I hit a concrete barrier on the highway during a really heinous sleetstorm last month. Boyfriend slid into ditches and had to be winched out, twice. Friend’s tire blew. Cousin hit a deer. Yikes :frowning:

My son rolled our car three times (totaled it) and luckily was thrown out before the roof met the dashboard.

Glad you’re here to post!

It was near Colonsay in Saskatchewan. I won’t know until Tuesday if my car will be considered a write off…though there is so much body work to be done I can only assume it will be.

Very, very glad the outcome wasn’t worse.

Sorry for your assorted stress.

Holy crap! I’m very glad to hear that your car did it’s job in protecting you from injury.

Oh boy!

Lucky man!

Glad to hear you’re fine.

As for the car, assuming there’s no structural damage, can’t they just put a complete set of new body panels on it?

The modern automobile is an amazing thing. Two years ago, I rolled mine completely over after being forced off the highway, and my only injuries were from the safety restraints.

Any landing you walk away from…

How are you feeling today physically? When this happened to me, I felt like I’d been working out. My muscles were so sore.

Glad you’re still here to tell us about this.

I am also glad to hear you are okay. I’m currently commuting to another city (Airdrie) for a temp assignment, and the sooner I can stop driving on the highway every day, the happier I’m going to be. I can relate to your desire to just get on a bus and let someone else do all the driving.

Woke up this morning feeling great…in fact quite happy I lost another pound :D. The back pain is mostly gone now. In fact I’m going to try to get to my swimming lesson today.
