So I'm Having a Baby Today

Oh my goodness!! HAPPY BABY!!!

You’re in my thoughts and prayers.

Mazal tov, leechbabe and husband! Here’s wishing you the best of luck in your new endeavor!

Welcome to the world, bubbaleechie. We’re happy to have you!

Where are the pictures? We need baby pics!

YAY! Congratulations!

I was six pounds exactly when I was born. Six is a good number.

Hey y’all,
I’ve just managed to get home in order to pass on the following -

Anne-Marie Portia was born by C-section at roughly 1755 today and is currently resting in a humidicrib at the hospital. She does indeed weigh 6 lbs 4 oz, has a mass of black hair with what seem to be blue eyes. So far the consensus seems to be that she either looks like her grandad or Richard Nixon, (We assume this will lessen with time.)

Pysically she’s all intact, with the correct amount of digits and limbs. Her right foot is currently on a bit of an angle due to her confined living conditions, but apparently massage will straighten that out.

For the medically minded her agpar score was 7 and 9.

Mum and bubbaleechie have still yet to have some together as leechbabe is still recovering from the C-section and bubbaleechie needs to remain in the humidicrib till the morning.

leechbabe is doing fine. She was an absolute trooper during the process, and my respect and love for her has grown ten fold in the last 24 hours. Despite it being a C-section she did go in into labour, and the contractions where about 3 minutes apart when we finally went in to theatre. (At this point I would like to add that women are incredible for what they’ll go through to bring a child into the world.)

Pictures have been taken and will be posted to our site soon.

As for me, I’ll admit that I was pretty much numb for the entire day… untill I walked out of the hospital at ten o’clock, at which point I burst into joyus laughter and tears of relief for the gift of a healthy beautiful daughter and a wife whose strength leaves me in awe.

That is good news indeed! Thanks for the update - we are all relieved to hear that both mother and baby are fine.

Awwww. I get so weepy at new babies being born. After I had one, my sense of how wonderful a birth is went up 50-fold. And I think, schmaltzy as it sounds, after 9/11 and other recent world traumas I find the birth of babies even more precious. The world is going to go on.

Congratulations. Can you believe how much you can love someone you just met?

How wonderful! Congratulations! My sister is due any day now, too, I like to hear others’ success stories.

Welcome, Anne-Marie (a very pretty name).

Welcome to the world, Anne-Marie Portia!! We join your parents in wishing you a happy life!

YAY! Lovely name, too.

Best wishes on a smooth recovery from the surgery, and if breastfeeding is planned, a smooth start to that, too (do not hesitate to call in the lactation consultants at the least sign of difficulty, suffering is not mandatory!).

Ah, babies. Wonderful critters. (despite the odd annoyances)

Welcome, Anne-Marie! We are so glad you’re here.

Get well soon, leechbabe, and hang in there, leechboy. Don’t let the sleep deprivation get you down. I bet the little wee leech is totally worth it!

WHAT A SWEET NAME!!!

CONGRATS!!! How wonderful!

Yay and congratulations! Leechbabe, I hope everything went well and that you’ll be up and around ASAP. Can the new baby g be penpals with leechbaby in a few years?

Congratulations!!

Love the name!

Don’t worry, all babies look like Richard Nixon, except the ugly ones that look like Winston Churchill.

Somehow, it doesn’t keep people from cooing “She’s so adorable!”

Congrats and Best Wishes.

Fabulous news - congrats to the leech family of now 3!

I just keep wondering what would possibly be going through your head when you are at home and know for certain you will be giving birth in a few hours. The mind boggles.

Your post did indeed bring a tear to my eye leechboy, may I wish you all much happiness.

Yay!! Welcome to the world, Anne-Marie!! She sounds beautiful.

Congratulations Leechbabe and family!

Congrats to everyone!

For those Dopers who are lucky enough not to have to put up with pounds and ounces and so on, and who use the more sensible metric systerm, 6 pounds and 4 ounces is 2.835 kilograms.

Congratulations to Anne-Marie and the leech family. the kid is sure to become a Doper. It’s a dominant gene you know, and since both parents are carriers, the leechling won’t be able to avoid it.

congratulations!!!

Woo-hoo! Best wishes to mom, dad and baby!
