So I'm quarantined in the vicksmosphere

Everyone in Casa tanookie is sick today. The munchkin started it all Tuesday by throwing up all over me. I made a silent wish not to catch her cold and obviously that was a bit too silent because I am totally miserable.

So she’s on the road to recovery and hubby is sick but not too bad. Then there’s me… sinuses so stuffed it feels like my teeth are all going to fall out and my face is all sore too :frowning: So here I sit alone in our room with the vaporizer and the laptop. What I really want is some benadryl and a decent night’s sleep.

Anyone else miserable? Or does anyone have some cheer to spread? I’m sick and tired and bored :frowning:

awwww…

Here’s a hot compress for your sinuses, and hmm… lets see, last time I checked you did in fact, have feet that you can’t see gets bizzy with the foot rub

Oh wait, here’s a book on CD that I know you’ve been wanting to read, but here, someone will read it TO you…

Hope that helps.

ENJOY!!!

Wishing a speedy recovery your way, tanookie!

Oh, and drink plenty of water. I also find that multivitamins help, but, well, having never been pregnant myself for obvious reasons, I’ve no clue if that’s a good or bad idea … call your doc on that one.

poor tanookie! Any way you can park the little one with grandma for the night? Have hubby rub your sinuses (it works, really), watch a good old movie, and take a sudafed…which is ok to take in your third trimester.
Feel better, hon.

Oh, tanookie, there’s nothing worse than being sick while pregnant. Well, maybe a few things, like being thrown up on, but really it’s right up there at the top of the list. So far so good as far as illness here. Three out of five have had a brief runny nose, but that’s it. Hope you feel better soon and I will take some extra sinus medicine (sinus headaches love me) for you.

Thanks for the link  Some silly stuff there!

Oh and I took some sudafed and it made everything worse for some reason. I tend to have odd reactions to medicines… I’m just happy my epidural works and so does percocet!

Oh and don’t get me started on grandma babysitting :frowning:

I would suggest going to http://www.kaczorzoo.net/ and reading the “crazy quotes heard as parents” section because it is really funny, but I don’t know if they are less funny because they happened to you.

Oh well, just remember “Toast is for eating - not parking.” or whatever that means.

Get well soon.

Small child insisted she park her trucks on her peanutbutter toast. Peanutbutter tire tracks are not fun to clean!

tanookie I can’t imagine how you moms handle pregnancy with a little one in the house! I’m pregnant with our first ever - twins - and it’s all I can do to keep up with a minimum of housework & baby preparations. Kudos to you for not dashing away to some remote island!

Oh, and we have grandma issues, too; is that your mother or MIL?

Twins… wow… I don’t know how I would have coped with twins right off the bat! Line up the support now and not necessarily from grandmas! There will be days (actually nights or early early mornings) when you are sleep deprived and haven’t showered in 3 days and the house is trashed and you wonder if you’re in over your head. I’ve had a few and thank god for people I could talk to about it!

We dropped our threshold for what consitiutes a clean house. That helped a lot with the new baby. You also find your priorities shift a lot (or at least mine did) Also I do a lot less cooking and when I do cook it is easy to make stuff.

This is my MIL who is like the absent minded professor when it comes to babysitting. She says things like ‘if we’re not busy we’ll take munchkin for a bit this weekend.’ Then I never hear from her… not even to say sorry we’re busy! Or she says she’ll be right over … as soon as she goes to the bank, post office, grovery and gets her hair cut. Um that’s not right over. shrug

I refuse to let my mother babysit. I just don’t trust her. I’m sure that sounds really mean but y’all don’t know my mother.

When I got a nasty cold while pregnant once I found curling up with a cozy cup of lemon tea with honey in it made me feel so much better. ((hugs)) And a quick recovery.

Hope you’re feeling better today, tanookie. If it helps, you brought back a good memory for me when you mentioned a vaporizer. When I was a kid, I had asthma, and if I had a bad night my sister would kick me out I and I would sleep with Mom. In the morning, when everyone else was a school, she would fire up the vaporizer (with Vicks vapor-rub, of course) and bring me hot Jello ( Jello powder desolved in boiling water, then drunk like tea, weird, but that’s what our family did). By mid-morning, my asthma was usually under control and I’d spend the rest of the day in the big comfy chair watching game shows. Asthma was really just my way of getting a day home alone with Mom, always a good thing, so vaporizers always make me think good thoughts.

Hint for parents: Every once in a while, let your kid stay home from school even if he/she is not that sick–she/he may just need a day with Mom/Dad.

tanookie, my MV friend, are you sure you’re not me? I have had a rotten cold (lost voice, coughing, etc) for a week now. The pregnant immune system is just not kind, is it? I have a dreadful reaction to Sudafed too (makes me jumpy and wanting to climb the walls), so I can’t take it either.

I went out to Target today to buy a cold mist humidifier myself, because my docs say I’m gonna buy one anyway when the baby arrives. Think it really helps, or have I been conned out of $19.99?

If it helps, you can read about the braindead things I’ve done in the past 2 days here.

Cold mist humidifier is good for baby when they first arrive so you haven’t been conned…

when I’m sick though I prefer the steam one with the vicks vapor stuff in the water.

Believe it or not I saw that thread and my only thought was yummmmm spaghetti

aw, that’s crappy tanookie. i’m just getting over an evil lil cold thingy myself. on the plus side, i got my james hetfield voice back, which i lost about 3 weeks ago

get well soon
