So tell me about you.

Oh sure, let’s see here.

31 year old human bean of the male persuasion (born a lady, no longer so, much happier this way.) In possession of a plethora of bodily malfunctions, including fibromyalgia, migraines, hypermobility type Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, some manner of gastrointestinal issue we haven’t managed to properly identify but threw medications at anyway till something worked, and intermittent(ly annoying) asthma. Owner of four cats, three old, one only recently out of kittenhood proper. Translator of Japanese and the occasional amount of Latin or German, currently learning Greek (so it really is all Greek to me.) Fanfiction writer. Member of the local church choir. Also currently living in FARM COUNTRY.

I’m boring, really.

I’m a 34/M.

I grew up in Florida, but have lived in Alabama for the past 9 years or so.

I’ve been married for almost 12 years to my HS sweetheart, and we have 5 younguns and two outdoor cats.

81 year old retired mathematician who has lived in Montreal for the last 50 years and expect to die here.

50’s white male, originally from California, now in Minnesota. Technical consultant sitting at a data center waiting for something to break so I can call somebody up and tell him to fix it. In my off time I go to yoga to attempt to compensate for a lifetime of falling down stairs, off of bicycles and skateboards, out of treehouses, and onto dojo floors (hey, that Oxford comma is pretty important there, otherwise I would have been falling out of treehouses directly onto dojo floors and that’s never actually happened… that I remember…), and play the occasional (read: many) hours of computer games. No measurable social life to speak of unless any of the above says “social life” to you, in which case, we need to talk.

I’m a 40 year old male, married to a woman for 8 years, with a 5 year old son, 2 dogs and a cat.

I was born and raised in Florida. I grew up and became a lawyer. Until about 3 years ago, neither of those things fulfilled me.

So, I moved to Colorado for a reboot.

I really, truly love living in the Denver area. And I stumbled into a job practicing criminal defense with a prominent attorney, which really feels like a calling where I can do some real good (after flailing for years in dry and technical legal stuff I was never all that good at).

Life is FAR from perfect (the kid can be a challenge; I need to make more money; my mom has cancer). But I feel like I’m (hopefully, maybe, possibly) going in the right direction.

I’m a tall white guy in my late 60s. I’m happily married to the same woman for 39 years. I’m a retired factory worker from an auto parts plant that has vanished from the surface of the earth. The factory is gone, that is, not me. I’m reading my way through the books of Terry Pratchett, Carl Hiassen, Michael Connelly, and several others. I spell and use grammar fairly well, but I try hard not to be a jerk about it.

Not quite 50 year old American male of European ancestry. Never married, no kids and living happily by myself in central Nebraska. Former facrory worker, now semi retired bum.

60ish white female living in the far western suburbs of Chicago. I have been a professional librarian for over 30years, the last 17 at a hospital. I am divorced, and am owned by a black kitteh and a red headed thoroughbred mare.

Caucasian female baby boomer in Los Angeles. Writer of inspirational prose for gift products and books.
Just had my first nonfiction book published on TV comedy writers, for which I interviewed people like Carl Reiner, Norman Lear, James L. Brooks…The forewords are by Ed Asner & Carol Kane. The book is endorsed by Jay Leno, Paula Poundstone, Richard Lewis, Georgia Engel, Fred Willard, Mike Farrell, and Valerie Harper.

I’m in my 40s and am a father of four girls. Currently living in Australia but about to move back to New Zealand where I grew up. For the most part I spend my time playing PS4 games, riding a bicycle (mountain bike mostly), browsing the internet (SDMB, PPRuNe, news), and looking after the two youngest girls.

Sometimes I have to go to work which mostly involves flying freight up the east coast in the wee hours of the morning. This sucks dogs balls in some respects and so it’s about to change to flying people around New Zealand and the Pacific.

I can play guitar and piano and own various instruments but rarely make the time to do it.

Bugger.

I’m curious what injuries would retire a lawyer? Head?

Queenstown is a beautiful spot, particularly the surrounding rural area. I had my first flying job there.

Dunedin or Christchurch ? I grew up in Dunedin. Christchurch is a nice spot. We wanted to live in Christchurch white this new job but were told it wasn’t available.

57 year old white female. Not married, never have been. I have a small farm (14 acres) with three horses. The house is 170 years old and needs more help than I can give it, it seems like, but will be paid off in January. I have 5 dogs, although I’m trying to find a home for the dumped dog I recently took in. She was dumped with a bag of dog food a mile from my farm. She’s a heeler mix and just doesn’t fit in with the other dogs. I’m a data analyst and work from home most of the time, which suits me fine. I’m working hard to be able to retire.

I am a Spanish sellsword, formerly in the revenge business. Ironically, it was not long after I ended my career in revenge, I embarked on a new career on Revenge.
My posts here are hit or miss in terms of thoughtfulness & coherence. I blame it on the brandy. Not Brandy, though, who is a fine girl who would make a good wife.

I’ll play…

I’m a 49 year old, white woman. Married for 25 years to fellow doper Suburban Plankton. I have one son, 20 yo.

I have dark purple hair and tend toward wearing jeans and band/concert t-shirts. I listen to mostly hard rock/metal/classic rock. I am a die hard fan of the San Francisco Giants from birth.

I am the volunteer director for the local wildlife rescue. Long time volunteer at my local animal shelter, and have been active in pit bull rescue for nearly 10 years.

Hobbies include going to as many concerts as I can afford; gardening; knitting.

49 year old white male, married with children.

Work for the federal govt in statistics/economics. It’s not that interesting.

My number one pastime is social dancing to Latin music. I also speak Spanish and French and practice as much as a I can. I’d like to learn other languages. I enjoy astronomy, and reading history, science, archaeology, and sci-fi. I want to travel more that I do, but have trouble affording it.

58 year old white male. Have always lived in New Orleans or a suburb of. Married 34 years to the same beautiful woman and have 3 daughters and 2 granddaughters. Approve grants for a living. And two dogs and two cats.

Late 40’s female of Celtic and other European heritage. Evangelical Christian, married for 22+ years, unable to have children. Have moved often as a child and an adult, but hoping to make the last major relocation in a couple of weeks.
On the cusp of abandoning the career I’ve been struggling to manage for 27 years :smack: and getting a job I can work at until I’m too old, or financially healthy enough.
Married to a musician who has already abandoned the same troublesome career. We are an acoustic duo, playing Celtic and Renaissance music for a little money, sometimes tips, or just a meal.
I’ve been looking at SDMB for years, but only active for the last 2 or so. I’m here mostly on the weekends, but who knows how that will change in the next few weeks.
I’m glad for the opportunity to sound off on the many conversations here.

Hello, I’m a mid-50s male, born in the Philippines of Filipino-Russian ancestry. I’m not short and small like many Filipinos. Grew up in the northeast USA; Latham NY is my hometown. Have been living in/near San Francisco since late teens. Long-time fan of the Giants (hi Rhiannon8404!), and the 49ers. When the Giants finally won it in 2010 I uncorked a bottle of champagne in the backyard and sprayed it all over. My wife, a lifelong fan, watched safely from inside, smiling at my silliness.

Spent a few years in the Marines as I worked on my degree. Got a B.S. in applied mathematics with a computer science minor, got out of the Marines and have been working in tech. Right now am with a company that makes a robotics radiosurgery machine to treat brain cancer, and it is very cool and interesting machine. Hoping to retire in 5-8 years.

I have 3 kids from my first marriage and they’re in their early 30s. I started young, and we struggled but it was all good. The kids are great people and it’s a joy seeing them navigate their lives. No grandkids yet; none even on the radar.

My wife is a saint. Married 16 years. We enjoy traveling and volunteering, and when we retire we figure we’ll do more of that.
