So, that's the Star Trek theme song then

Not the theme to Enterprise, but to the original. Available on a CD compilation of theremin tracks, it does sound sort of funky.

Thank goodness there’s no Lucas figure for Star Trek who might re-release the Original Series with this as the theme though.

You must have missed the current syndicated Star Trek, which has been enhanced with new special effects. However, CBS didn’t go all-out as Lucas did, and most people believe the effects help rather than harm.

And there were even some that did not notice them until they were told by someone else.

They monkeyed with the theme music too, didn’t they? It sounds like it was totally re-recorded rather than just digitally cleaned up.

I’ve only see “The Immunity Syndrome” (in the UK we’ve only received the cleaned up TOS, not the remastered) a while back, it wasn’t bad to look at, nor was the new theme.

That’s the first time I’d heard the lyrics sung. I’ve read them before, of course.

Weird. But fitting for the 1960’s Kirk.

And somehow prophetic for the 21st century Denny Crane.

Yes that’s true. The theme music is an all-new recording.

I was just singing this over the opening of a TOS episode the other day, albeit without the jazzy beat. The things one commits to memory at 12…

a group of us watching an original series, back in the early '80’s decided we would try singing along. the lyrics were spelled out in one of the many star trek books of the '70s.

we couldn’t get past the second note. we were laughing to hard. the wild leap and the “yond” of beyond had us laughing for hours.

in one the the tos episodes uhura sings the theme song in a scene. she handled the leaps rather well.

Eh, they changed the meter to 4/4. The original theme song is in 5/4.
