Rod Stewart?! If anyone has any method for me to inform the appropriate people of my dislike for this travesty please let me know. I cannot listen to this drivel.
As far as I am concerned the intro to a Star Trek series should be synthesized classical, only vaguely tuneful, and above all SPACEY. After all, they are going into space.
I know I know, it is a new series with kind of a new twist so the people in marketing thought maybe they should try something a little new. “Ooops! That was a bad idea”, is what they should be saying. What about Star Trek implies bad eighties pop rock?
Bottom line, I need to do something about this. I think I have finally found my issue.
I was flipping the channels and I came across what sounded like the theme song to The Transformers: The Movie, a movie that came out in the 80’s. But I kept watching, wondering what movie or show could have such terrible music? Music inspired by Survivor (think Eye of the Tiger) or Europe (think Final Countdown). It turned out to be Enterprise. They need to change that theme music, and fast. It’s sucky.
I like the theme song. To me it seemed very apt for the premise of the show, and the song went very well with the images of the opening credits. Just my opinion
I always thought the “Voyager” theme was pretty. (It got an Emmy, too - won over the “Friends” theme!) Orchestral theme music for Star Trek seems to be a good tradition.
I am not sure about this theme song, because I haven’t heard it yet. But I think putting a popular song as the theme to a science fiction show doesn’t seem fitting. Would it be the “popular” style of music at the time that “Enterprise” takes place? Probably not - we’ll never know!
