The all-time WORST TV theme music?

I nominate People’s Court! It makes my husband scream.

Cagney and Lacey. I hadn’t seen it for years but just happened to see the beginning of an episode yesterday. Ghastly!

Enterprise. Ick.

The Facts of Life

People’s Court? Not exactly a catchy beat, I’ll give you that, but it’s such a nothing tune, the kind that you can ignore with almost no effort. Plus, it’s distinctive as all hell.

Now, I agree with Joey G… the Enterprise theme blows Tribble chunks.

The Practice
Head of the Class
The (new) Outer Limits

I won’t say “worst,” but the theme from ER is not one that you’re likely to find yourself spontaneously humming when you thing of the TV program. Likewise with Seinfeld.

Enterprise, no contest. What were they thinking? I have never seen an entire episode, because I can’t get by that song. Eck.

I’m not surprised at the number of times Enterprise has come up. I hate that song! We always mute the song so we don’t have to listen to it. What were they thinking? This is Star Trek, not 30 Something in Space–although sometimes I do wonder about that.

King of Queens.

Hate it hate it hate it. I usually watch Boston Public on Monday nights and tape KoQ, and I always fast-forward through that horrible theme song.

I’m going to third (fourth?) the title song for Enterprise. It really kills the show. The thing is, I see what they’re trying to do with it, but it’s just so… bad. It’s the worst mix of music to show I’ve ever seen.

Family Ties.

What would we dooooo baby…without uuuuuuus…Shanananaaaaaa.

I get more of a sense of adventure and exploration from the themesong to The Courtship of Eddy’s Father.:o

I like Enterprise’s music.

I can’t say I much care for Malcolm in the Middle’s though.

Ugh, I second that. Not only does the song itself suck, but it’s one of those ones that bores its way into your skull, so you’ll have it stuck in your head at really inopportune moments. “All I want to do is cash my check and drive right home to you.” Blegh.

(Side note: Jeff Tweedy of Wilco was recently interviewed in Rolling Stone [hey, I was in the library killing time while chauffering a girl around for her mom. So sue me. :D]. The writer asked what his favorite TV theme was. At first Tweedy said he didn’t know, but he really wanted to change the one for “The King of Queens”. Would that not rock?)

(Side note #2: Jeff Tweedy’s favorite was “The Courtship of Eddie’s Father”.

Boston Public and The Practice, hands down.

I don’t mind the Enterprise song, though it sounds a lot better when done by Rod Stewart.

I just remembered another one - CSI. I realize “who are you” fits in well with the theme of the show but it annoys me that some minldless pop ditty is opening a drama.

Bleh.

That’s what I thought of as soon as I saw the thread title.
Growing pains is another bad one, but Family Ties is the worst.

I don’t like the theme song to The Rockford Files. There’s a lot about it that rubs me the wrong way.

Given time, I’ll probably think of more…

Full House
Growing Pains
Diff’rent Strokes (not the original, but the remix theme music that was used after the show went to ABC)
