I’ve been working a temp job since moving back in with my parents three months ago with plans to return to graduate school to get my teaching certification in either September or January (it depends on when some test scores from late June come back and how my financial aid comes in). Well, the job has gone fairly well (although I was on probation for awhile - my own fault, I got bored and started playing on the internet too much during the day - I have since rectified the situation and my boss has been quite pleased with me), and today, my boss called me into her office. They wanted to take me permanent! So I explained about school and how I would have 1-2 classes that meet in the late afternoon, she said they could work around that, and I accepted the position! So after Friday, I no longer have to report to my darn temp agency, I have medical benefits, which will help IMMENSELY as my COBRA expired and I have been paying for all of my prescriptions out of pocket, and I will also have dental insurance after 90 days - I’ve never had dental insurance before:D (of course, considering I’m phobic when it comes to the dentist, that might not be a good thing). But this completely solves my worries of how I was going to pay rent and bills in the fall when I move in with my boyfriend if I’m going to school at the same time - I’m getting a slight raise and will get reviewed after 90 days for another increase.
So, I’m fairly happy today. It’s not my dream job, but it will see me through my schooling and it’s a pleasant and fun environment. AND they’re going to send me to Atlanta for a product knowledge class over the summer - so, woohoo, company expense report and I get to stay in a hotel in Atlanta for four days on the company:D.
