So the governor of South Carolina is MISSING?

Case in point: New York State. I’d gladly have Eliot Spitzer back than the joke that is David Paterson. I don’t have a cite for it at the moment (but could probably provide one if asked) but there was a poll a month or two ago that showed that if Spitzer were to run against Paterson now, Spitzer would win.

Maybe he and John Edwards should consider a bi-partisan, pan-Carolina ticket for 2012…

I propose that “Hiking the Appalachian Trail” be the new euphemism for extra-marital sex.
or
The new euphemism for “My political career is over.”

The news is blazing around the library like a wildfire. Even the homeless people are up to date on this one. I didn’t know when I woke up that by now I’d be an expert on coastal roads in Argentina, but there you go.

We need a “facepalm” smiley. The :smack: just isn’t good enough for some things.

Now that is one hell of a mid-life crisis.

Her picture is going to be blazing around shortly as well. Hopefully there’s not a second family involved.

“I wanted to do something exotic” indeed. What an asshole.

Next Republican who thinks he has a shot in 2012…come on down!

“Erotic”… he must have said erotic.

It works better with exotic, I think. And there maybe be a second family involved, since he said he got to know the woman by … and even Sanford admitted this was ironic … counseling her to stay with her husband during a rough period in their marriage. Perhaps they’ve since split up, who knows.

I suppose it’s not worse than abandoning your duties as governor for a week, but I’m a little stunned that he went to Argentina even though his wife has known about this affair since January. She must be thrilled. He’s obviously making a very serious effort to keep the marriage together.

Apparently she has two kids.

Unfortunately, I read somewhere (Daily Kos thread on this?) that the other woman is married with two children, and that Sanford claims he told her she should break it off and fix things with her marriage.

Ah, here it is, posted during the liveblog of the press conference, so I suppose based on what Sanford was saying.
So sad for the innocent people involved, but for the Party of Family Values[sup]tm[/sup], the defenders of the sanctity of marriage? BWA-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

I am SO watching Colbert tonight.

No pressure now, Stephen, no pressure …

How exactly does this happen? Did this Argentinian woman just, out of the blue, e-mail a private citizen whose only claim to fame was that he was a three-term Congressman (he didn’t become governor until 2002 and he said the affair had gone on for 8 years) and pour out her marital problems to this stranger?

He had been in Argentina on some sort of fact-finding trip or trade trip as a Congresscritter, it seems, which is when he first met her. Though the details here are, shall we say, fuzzy as one of my grandmother’s sweaters…

Well, with all this talk around about how voters wanted a candidate with experience in foreign affairs…

 Nice one!

Bullseye!

I win I win I win!
I called traveling out of the country for nookie! Post #18. What do I win?
