…is what I’m getting from local retailers, web searching, etc. WTF? I have an 11 year old kid who can’t fit into that. He’s not some big fat fast food-fed behemoth, either; just very tall for his age.
You can’t tell me that high school/college/adults don’t buy batting helmets somewhere. Prince Fucking Fielder doesn’t wear a fucking size 7 1/2, I guarangoddamntee it. So where do non-pinheads buy batting helmets, anyway? Bueller?
Yeah; I figured out how I can get it online and am going to have to do so… I think he needs 7 3/4 or 8. the guy at Dick’s sporting goods told me they don’t carry large size baseball stuff because the only people into baseball anymore are ::eyebrows raised:: people of nationalites that tend to be smaller.
Of course, I don’t blame them for not carrying stock that doesn’t sell, but it’s a little disconcerting having to do a lot of pain in the ass searching because the bulk of the market are midget pinheads.
I remember when I was in softball, I needed the biggest helmet. It made me wildly uncomfortable when I was on deck and had to scramble around and tell whatever girl had absent-mindedly donned “my” helmet, without regards to how it actually fit her.
“Uh, hey, I need that helmet. No, I can’t get a different helmet because I have a super fat head. But that’s ok because it fits in with my super fat body. So can I trade you helmets so I can go bat?”
I’m glad your kid will at least have his own helmet, with his name in it. Our league just provided helmets for each team and thankfully they provided us with at least one huge one each year.
I found a dealie to measure his hat size, and it’s about 7 3/4; mine, too…so it’s not like I’m looking for some Godzilla helmet or anything, it’s just that the general cutoff seems to be 7 1/2…just another of life’s little annoyances…oh, well.
