Any opposition to the liberal position at all, no matter whether it be a question of efficacy or a belief that it causes more problems than it solves (or is silly, overblown and dictatorial, as in much of political correctness) or whatever, is invariably met with accusations of hate, racism, sexism, evil, selfishness, a desire to see suffering, etc., etc., etc., ad infinitum.
This has been the case for some 50 years now and people have finally gotten fed up with it. Hence Donald Trump.

Perhaps it is not their fault, because they cannot help it. You cannot blame the sidewinder that delivered the fatal bite to your brother, but that does not mean you have to forgive it. Asshole bigotry is a problem that we absolutely must find a solution to.
I have these conversations with people where it becomes so clear, it seems to me, that bigotry is so thoroughly ingrown into their very way of being, that they can’t actually understand much less believe that anyone really thinks its possible not to be a bigot. At best it feels like wordplay to them.

In reality, much of the middle & left’s error was in being too polite and respectful to their opponents. They were unwilling to admit even to themselves that the right stands for* nothing* but stupidity and evil, and paid the price by being surprised when the right voted in stupid, evil people.
