Kept clicking “Refresh” over and over and over… until it finally was up again.
No, I actually worked, because I’m not as good a college student as Cecil:
“The principal game played in colleges in the east–and everywhere else, for that matter – is called ‘Snoozing Your Way Through Four Years of Monotonous Drivel So You Can Collect a Piece of Paper That Entitles You to Make Twice as Much Money as the General Run of Mankind While Doing Half the Work.’” – from this column.
I found that I spent a lot of time at Fathom talking about the SDMB, and I notice a lot of other Dopers were over there spending a lot of time talking about the SDMB.
I think if this had been down much longer, it may have turned into the Chris Farley Show over at the FFF.
“Remember that one time when Fenris wrote that one thing? And it was real funny? Hahaha. That was cool. And remember what manhattan said? That was awesome.”
I just chatted a little more than usual over at Yahoo.
I however, did run over to bbboards to see if the “Winter of our Disconnect”" threads might have been reopened. No such luck then either.(which was rather a bummer, I wanted to see who killed the thread)
There was a half off sale at the DVD store, and I got the first 3 seasons of “The Sopranos” and the whole first season of the Kieffer Sutherland vehicle “24”. I have a television, but no cable, no antenna, and no VCR. All I have hooked up to it is my PS2. I hadn’t been able to catch all of those shows and I really wanted to see them. In the last 5 days I’ve watched damn near 40 hours of The Sopranos. Something like this, it affects your mind. I can’t stop talking like a gangster now. Fugeddaboutit. Damn that’s good television. My eyes and neck hurt from sitting in bed watching non-stop for huge stretches of time.
Thank goodness the dope is back. Incidently, as a backup for future breakdowns, my production company (which does things like make short films, put together rock concerts, produce plays, and run an improv troupe) has just about gotten the website ready for broad public use. I got a copy of vBulletin, and we will have forums very similar to what is here (with a better color scheme). Our focus will be more on the arts and socializing, but the quest for knowledge and philosophical musings will have their own place too. I’ll post a link next week sometime so you kids have another party to crash when this one gets busted up.
I learned Sanskrit, sewed matching curtain sets for my office, invented a renewable, nonpolluting energy source, wrote three novels, founded a theater group, mounted a successful campaign against street crime, and discovered a cure for the common cold. See what you can accomplish when you’re not wasting time on the computer?
