I know it is tomorrow, but my wife and I had today off work, so we already gave our gifts. We also went to Chili’s for lunch, feeling very much like we were on the Office.
I got my wife an smaller version of the Evenstar from Lord of the Rings, thus confirming us as the nerdiest couple of the year.
Well, I did violate the “we’re not getting each other anything” rule just a bit ago. I bought this really homely stuffed puppy that sings “Puppy Love” when its tummy is pressed. ACBG’ll huff and puff about it a bit but then he’ll hug and kiss me so it’ll be good.
As far as the big day is concerned, we’ll grill steaks, and have a salad and either smashed or baked potatoes. This will be followed by strawberries dipped in chocolate (picked 'em up today), champagne, some quality hot tub time and well… errr… you know.
The day after VD we go nuts and hit the stores to buy up chocolate for cheap. We’re all romantic like that.
My Hubby got me books, which he knows is my absoulte-favorite gift. I’m getting him a new computer game. I may get him some Now and Later candies if I can find any. (Damn things are rarer than hen’s teeth around here.)
As a gift for both of us, we booked a cabin on one of the Great Lakes this weekend. It’s going to be snowy and cold-- very romantic. (I love it when the water is angry and grey, with the wind blasting in from over the lake. The last time we were there, there was a thunderstorm-- awesome to behold.)
I’m broke, so I suggested we not get each other anything. However, my niece (she’s 10) found out, and was pretty concerned, so I bought my husband a bag of Riesen candy and a bag of Werther’s caramels (his favorite), along with his card. She felt better after I did that. I definitely won’t be hurt if he doesn’t get me anything. We’re going out for dinner tomorrow night. There’s a new restaurant in town and we plan to go there, though if it’s too busy we may need a plan B.
My honey got all googly-eyed when I tried on a black velvet halter top a couple weeks ago. It was half off, but I’d already spent the weekend’s spending money, so I made it his Valentine’s Day present. He asked what he could get me, so I told him to buy me dinner and (per his request) e-mailed him a list of restaurants I’d like. We always go Dutch, so this will be the first time he’s actually taken me out to dinner.
Weird One, you had me confused for a minute there when you said the black velvet halter top was half off. I mean, of course that would draw his attention!
Oh, congrats - us, too (#8, though). And congrats on the new job.
We bought ourselves some good snowshoes, which we already used on Saturday. Tomorrow we’ll go to our favorite Italian restaurant for dinner, and exchange cards. I think I’ll make sure we have a nice bottle of wine chilled for when we get home.
My husband just gets candy, a little stuffed lovebug, and a hummer. No, not the expensive kind. Unless I get diamonds or something.
Our anniversary is on the 19th, so that takes priority. I will likely just get a little candy tomorrow, and today he told me to be ready for a delivery tomorrow afternoon - that must be flowers. I love flowers.
I bought myself a box of my favorite cigars and a bottle of wine, both of which I am going to enjoy by myself tomorrow. Who says being single on Valentine’s Day sucks?
I bought my husband a purple notebook that I saw him eyeing at Barnes & Noble, a stuffed dog holding a purple heart, a purple bag filled with toffee squares, and a purple Hot Wheels car. I put them in a purple bag with a card that has a purple envelope.
I got a big heart-shaped box of chocolates. Sure, it’s been done, but I’ve never gotten one from a boyfriend for Valentine’s Day before, and I’m real happy about it.
A notebook, a Sudoku book, and we’re either going to decide to buy a new bed or we’re going to get him a new pair of shoes. We’re going out for a fancy dinner and when we get home I bought him icewine.
It’s his birthday tomorrow, so he gets lots of stuff.
This is my first valentines day where I have someone to buy stuff for, so I am sad that I am on a tight budget. So, he’s getting a box of chocolates, a pair of chocolate watches (he collects watches), and a shift cable brushing kit for his car.
So far he’s given me flowers, and I know that theres some chocolate and sushi (hopefully not together!) involved with the rest of the gifts. Also, he’s taking me out to a sushi restauraunt.
i’m completely single for this valentines day. so i bought myself a new toy last week, though it won’t get played with until tomorrow night (i’m all romantic and stuff.)
