So what does one (well, many) actually DO on a "girls' night"?

Those are some way cool shoes Shelli, I have some not-quite-as-brave ones in black and white that I should break out now that you’ve reminded me.

Maybe I’ll wear them Monday, we’re doing a girls night type thing. A bunch of girls on a local message board I’m on are meeting up at a coffee shop to chat and exchange books. Not a book club discussion thing, just saving money by swapping things we’ve already read amongst ourselves. Oughta be interesting, as I’m sure none of us has the exact same tastes.

Right, because I’m the first one who mentioned the particular theme of these types of threads.

Oh wait.

Damn. Thought you got it in one, too.

OMG shoes!

My current favorites pair: Mark Ecko Bristle-Hays and Mark Ecko Bristle-Huff, except mine are brown/natural. My clothing is kinda boring, so I like my shoes to have a little something.

Love the Cupid Shuffle. Next time, though, move up to the Cha Cha Slide. At my last sorta girl’s night, I went with a friend to Wal*Mart and got a lot of cheap makeup, and then we went back home and gave me a good drag look. There was a little alcohol in that one, too.

What she said. You know, all someone did was suggest that maybe you not worry about a strict event agenda and let it kinda happen, and you shit the bed. Totally reasonable, IMO.

There’s always a contingent when more than one person expresses the same opinion, don’tcha know.

Shoes are good. Why can’t your wear your purple suede shoes, Kalhoun? Does meltage= snow melting? (clueless Floridian here)

Oh, so you know the drill. There’ve been some years when we had to run the air on Christmas day. I’ve lived here my whole life and I think it’d be nice to actually live through a white christmas once or twice. I bet the cold weather gets old after awhile though.

Actually, cold weather gets old after the first day. And there aren’t many cute cold-weather shoes, anyway.

Oh well, I guess that’s all right then. Your outrage is validated, carry on.

Bambi, those are freaking awesome.
These two are mine in that fashion. The one on the left has a swallow and a heart with little sparklies around them like tattoo art. The right one is just a cool Target pick up.
I love the Rocket Dogs!

PS - guys, we’ve had a girl night pop up here spontaneously. Don’t harsh it.

ETA - sorry about the mess. I guess you can see my shoes perfectly match my awesome grandma style quilt!

I like the cold. Well, as “cold” as it gets here in central Florida, anyway.

Shellibean, you’re right. Actually, this thread is living proof of the point some of us were trying to make. Get some girls together and chat about whatever and things just naturally flow from there.

As cold as it gets here in central Florida…you’re killing me over here! :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey, hey, hey! It’s 55 right now! I’ve almost had to put jeans on.

Hey for the record, I am in Colorado presently which is quite a bit colder than Central FL. TYVM.

I just get excited when it’s cool enough to justify wearing a hoodie.

Crocs! Love them. They were the only shoes that didn’t make my feet swell. But then work banned them.

Other than that, I have my trusty Birkenstocks that I’ve worn for, oh, 4 years now? Yeah, that’s about right.

Freekin’ adorable! And named after you!!

That – is tragic.:frowning: I can’t wear mine as long as I used to, but a life without high heels is almost a life not worth living.

That’s a great idea! Recession-proof fun. It’s perfect except for the coffee shop thing. I don’t think a double latte will ever fill the “shoes” of the almighty Girl’s Night Margharita.

Yup. It was warm and puddly yesterday. All the snow converged into pools. I had to navigate a gauntlet of hidden potholes and mini-streams to get to my party last night. So glad I left the suede shoes at home!

Bwahaha. I know… it’s the worst. But get this, my best friend (we are so bff. I don’t care if it’s not high school) who I happen to work with has the same shoe size as me, so she hauled in shoes that were not sneakers for me to wear about six weeks after the accident- they were still ugly, but by god, not sneakers. She wasn’t having me stuck in sneakers!

Then she spent about a year shopping for heels I could wear. She now owns most of the pairs I bought… one pair went to another friend with the same shoe size… sigh… I tried to get back into them but the ankle doesn’t bend that way any more, and eventually we decided I couldn’t keep buying all my friends shoes! :stuck_out_tongue:

The Danskos are … well, they’re clogs. But shiny patent leopard print? I can get behind that. It’s somewhere between tackylicious and actually sort of cute. And they do give me an extra inch and a half of height or so.

Your only response to this ankle tragedy is to have Girl’s Night In and make your friends dress up and parade around the party in your cute ex-shoes. Live vicariously through them. Go now, and plan your party.

Oh **Idlewild **that sucks about the shoes and being limited by an injury! I don’t do a lot of heels (because I am incredibly uncoordinated) so I have lots and lots of non-heel shoes. I love the Rocket Dogs, as previously mentioned, and they are almost all flats - all casual. I also love my chucks. But mostly I find good shoes at places like Junkman’s Daughter and cheap side shops.

I love some of the styles that come out of Target but I have yet to buy one that has not made me curse the day I was born after standing in them for a few hours.

**Kalhoun **- agreed about the girls night margarita. Almost every girls night I know of has alcohol (unless it’s full of recovering addicts, I could understand that). The way I see it is this: we all have lives we have to focus on our kids and/or our job and basically being responsible so if we get together about four times a year and drink till we’re silly and talk like sailor whores then so be it.
