So what else is a Gulf+Western company?

Apparently “Paramount” pictures is.

Anything else. It’s not a logo I see emblazoned everywhere.

It isn’t called Gulf+Western anymore, the whole conglomerate is now called Paramount. The only other subsidiary I can think of off the top of my head is Simon & Schuster Publishing.

It’s too hard to know what properties might live in the corporate entity known as Gulf + Western anymore. It merged with a bunch of companies which eventually changed their name to Warner Communications, which changed its name to Paramount Communications, which got bought by Viacom (which shed some old G + W operations such as Madison Square Garden), which is merging with CBS, which is the old Westinghouse, which had bought CBS and Infinity Communications and shed its old industrial operations. Not that investment bankers made any money or anything.

So I’m sure there is a Gulf + Western subsidiary somewhere in the Viacom/CBS corporation, but Lord knows what’s in it any more.
