So what happened yesterday?

I have been watching Giants games for about 30-31 years now. (At least with having a little understanding of what I was watching)
We’re losing and there is less than 2 minutes and we don’t waste time, don’t commit a game crushing penalty and don’t come up short.
This was following a week where we came back in the last 2 to tie.

I really don’t have any remembrance of this happening **for ** the Giants only **to ** the Giants.

What did I see?

I don’t know if I can adjust to the concept of Hope and the end of a game. I have always waited to see how we could find a new way to blow it.

It has taken me this long to recover enough to post this.

Nope, sorry, jfranchi, fans of teams with 2 Superbowl victories don’t get to write things like that.

Cubs fans do.

Maybe even a Bills fan.

Not a Giants fan.

You misunderstand a little. My fault though.
I know the Giants can win at grind it out football, get a lead and the defense would eat the opposing team and we could slow march to even a Superbowl.

They almost never could do the following:

We have a QB that overthrows receivers when they are 40 yards downfield. (I am not use to that either)
We have a receiver that reaches up a grabs balls down with one hand and holds on.
We have a Tight End who is almost up to Bavaro level.
Our Special teams look good. The Kicker & Punter and excellent.
The Punt Returner is very good.

**But, the defense is not good. **

This is not my father’s Giants.

BTW, Wellington Mara is near death in the hospital with the final stages of Cancer. I did not realize it had gotten that far.

Don’t forget the Saint’s fans

A Chargers fan does. After a spectacular year winning the AFC West, our team is right back to the status quo, finding new, daring ways to rip defeat from the jaws of victory. At least this time they tried to use LT. Give them credit for that; the Denver and Dallas losses where they just forgot they had him are unbelievable. How can you play a guy like LT and not give him the ball?

Anyway, yesterday it was all (IMO) about the offensive line. The Chargers looked like they’d never seen a blitz before. When the best halfback to play the game in a long time, behind the best fullback to play the game in a long time, takes until late in the fourth quarter to break even on yardage, what does that tell you? When Drew Brees has to run like Jesse Owens and throw the ball away on every snap, what does that tell you?

Giants get the ball, down by 13, somewhere in the neighborhood of seven minutes left.

Ok…Manning pulled a monster game-tying drive out of his ass last week. We’re not done yet. We’re not done yet.

Touchdown Tiki!

WOOHOO! Ok, down by six…if the D holds, we can still do this.

Broncos punt!

Allright!! Now we just need Manning to nail this one down. A few big passes and we’ll have this all wrapp…

Manning is intercepted!

GAAAA!! Fuck fuckitty fuck fuck fuck…OK…we just need the D to make another big effort here.

1st Down!

1st Down!

1st Down!

We’re toast.

4th Down! Elam for the field goal to make a nine-point game.

Yep…hot, buttery toast…

WIDE RIGHT!

WOOT!! WOOHOOOOO!! Ok, we’re still in this…Manning has pure, filtered ice water in his veins in this situation. He can do this…it’ll probably all fall apart, but it is possible that he can do this.

1st Down!

1st Down!

1st Down!

Tiki up the middle to the two-yard line!

I’m going to have a fricking coronary any moment now. Ten seconds left, on the two. Broncos have to be thinking “run”, so it’ll be a pass. If it’s picked off, I won’t get out of bed until next Sunday.

There’s the snap…Manning drops back…under pressure…way back…a monster block by Tiki…back…back…fires one…Toomer in the end zone, TOUCHDOWN!!!

And all is right in the world.

So **Hal **, have you ever seen the Giants have back to back games with successful 2 minute drills.
I really can’t remember it happening.
