Yup. Once you get to Las Venturas there’s one parked in a big hanger at the end of the runway. Sometimes you need to wait for it to spawn, though.
@ mza662: The one I used was in the nearest village (I forget the name, sorry) to Los Santos, just north of Vinewood/Mulholland, look out for ‘Inside Track Betting’.
I didn’t think the plane shooting was that difficult, as long as you manage to take down a fair few while they’re still dots in the sky you’ll end up with at lest one transmittor left. As for the next one, I find it’s better to head for the furthest target first and work your way back, it’s the only way I could manage which left me with enough fuel to land back on the roof.
Yea, like other people have said the only way to get better at the plane flying missions is just to steal planes constantly from the airport and fly around in them. It can be tedious and time consuming, but it pays off in the end. I remember being really frustrated with the mission where I had to go underwater and board the ship for that asian guy (I forget his name), because I had to get up my underwater swimming and that took forever.
Once you do get that pilots license though it’s great because if I’m in another part of town I can just go to the airport and steal a chopper and then ride that to the Casino, it’s sooo much faster than using a car.
Yeah, same here. That was a pain in the neck. And a lot of build-up for a not very exciting mission.
I’ve been trying to collect horseshoes even though I don’t have the jetpack yet. For the ones high up on roofs, I either use a chopper and land on the roof, or a plane, then parachute. It’s a lot of fun, to tell the truth.
I can’t remember the order, but the planes always fly in at certain positions which repeat over and over throughout the mission. So say the first planes at 12 o’ clock, then there’s one at 6, then 9, then 3…after that it’ll go back to 12 then 6 etc.
This helps as you know where to turn before they come up on the radar. Also, try and shoot in front of the planes and let them fly into the gunfire.
I was dreading the Supply lines mission because of what everybody had said about it, but I did it first go, and I’m really not that good at flying.
Alright so I’ve hit a snag that I can’t seem to get past and I’m hoping one of you GTA playing Dopers out there got past this point and can maybe give me a tip.
I’m at the part where I’m doing a job for Wuzi out of the Casino and I need to blow up the damn. He tells me to go to the airport and grab the plane, and to then fly it to the drop point over the damn. For the life of me I cannot figure this out. I get into the plane and I fly to the drop point but then nothing happens. I’ve flown directly over the dot on the little map, and then turned around and flown higher, lower, etc. I’ve even tried to land the plane (with disastrous results). Does anybody have any experience with this mission?
You have to fly pretty high, but there’s a corona ring up there you’ll need to fly into. When you’re right inside the corona, hit the Triangle button, and CJ will bail out of the plane. You’ll be freefalling for a little while – hold forward on your controller for about 10-15 seconds to go faster and get closer to the dam. Then, hit the silk, and glide down to the red circle on the dam.
If you miss, it’s no big deal – just try to get in the water someplace so you can swim to the dock and the circle.
And here I was thinking that I’d be the farthest behind!
Currently, I’m stuck trying to steal weapons from the National Guard depot with Ryder. Poor guy keeps getting capped.
For a change of pace, I try to win the lowrider race with Cesar. I was very proud to have made it to the 4th checkpoint. In last place, but I’m hoping to do better…
I’m not very far along the Big Smoke or OG Loc strands either, so I suspect I’ll get stuck before to long. I’m having fun though, it’s the 1st GTA game I’ve played, so just being able to beat the crap out of anybody I pass on the street is good times. I do wish there were more radio stations for me to listen to, however, as I’m no big rap fan. I keep it tuned to Radio X.
I’m stuck on the mission where Og Loc is leaving town and having a party, all the bs about having to get your hair done and then I got into the battle and get killed before I finish them all off. I wish it was like vice city where you had ammunations from the start.
But I like driving offroad up north, I’ve probably spent more time doing that than missions (my bike rating is almost maxed now).
Wow, that’s exactly where I quit! I think it was the third time I successfuly finished N.O.E., but vrashed on the landing strip. That was a little frustrating. Then, World of Warcraft came out, and I haven’t touched GTA (or the PS2 at all) since.
Yeah, there’s only so much you can do with the mission format…
I got hung up on a couple of the driving school tests when I discovered something that helped me throughout the game - sometimes you need to change camera perspective (with select).
The flight school missions are a total pain, unless you’re in first person and can see straight ahead rather than in the angle-off third person view. Then they become a peice of cake. I switched back to third person to land, though. Otherwise you can’t see your shadow and don’t have a sense of how far above the runway you are.
I’m convinced that the supply lines mission is all luck. It took me about 15 tries, but the one where I did it I actually had a good 10% of fuel left, because none of the couriers drove that far away.
The mission after that is very fun, if you can ignore David Cross’ whining, that is.
I didn’t do very well with the dating part. Apart from the dates that you need to do to finish missions, I tended to avoid them after several went horribly wrong. I would go and meet the girls, take them out on one date to get the side-benefits, then never see them again.
Oh, and I could never win any of the stadium races. Even with near 100% on my motorcycle skill, I couldn’t win.
You can ignore the haircut thing. You don’t need to get your hair cut if you don’t want to.
I seem to recall when I did this mission, I used an AK-47 that I’d picked up from gang members while doing gang warfare. So, if you can, go take over a couple of territories from other gangs. The other gang members will drop AK-47s when you kill them, then you can use those.
A question of my own: I understand you can double-wield some weapons, notably the SMG, once you reach Hitman level. HOW?? I’m at Hitman for the SMG and a couple of others, and I can’t for the life of me figure out how to weild two at once. I’ve tried picking them up when they’ve dropped, I’ve tried buying another one from Ammunation, and all it does is give me more ammo. How, HOW do you do this???
Is that the one where you have to forklift the boxes into the truck? If so, you have to defend Ryder. When you hear gunplay outside, go out, shoot the one or two guys, run back in and get a box. It’s kind of tedious, since the “bad” guys keep spawning, but there are usually only a couple of them at a time. Any rifle-type weapon will kill them quickly.
Alternatively, you can complete most of the mission easily - get into the compound, kill the guards, don’t open the gate, then use the forklift to stack the boxes neatly by the entrance to the warehouse. Once complete, open the gate and loading becomes a lot easier!
I’m up to 90% complete. I still have the Ambulance, Vigilante and Fire Truck missions to go, but I’ve always hated them so I’ll probably not bother. I hate flying too, so the Venturas airport checkpoint “races” will probably be left too. Other than that, I’ve got the arena races (almost impossible) and the Chilliad Challenges (racing a mountain bike down Mt. Chilliad) which aren’t impossible, just annoyingly tough.
For those stuck at the early stages due to a lack of firepower, try finding and respraying all of the 50 tags around Los Santos. Once they’re all done you get the Tec-9, AK47, sawn-off and molotovs delivered to the Johnson house. I’d recommend the guide for this on Gamefaqs.com if you’re loathe to searching every square inch of LS for the bloody things.
Although I’m not as such ‘stuck’ on the girlfriend bits in GTASA, does anybody agree that part of the reason they spend hours playing it is partly because they spend the rest of their life bothered about their ‘popularity rating’ with their significant others, and might fancy a break?
Can’t wait 'til the next one where I have to make my excuses to my virtual girl just to go out on a drive-by…
Knew about defending Ryder - never got to him in time, unfortunately.
I’ve also tried the stacking beforehand. My health was somewhat low from an attempted carjacking on the way there. As I was stacking some dumbass soldier came up, pulled me off the forklift and capped me. Even though I’d shot everyone in sight when I got in there. I’d been fiddling about for about 10 minutes at that point.
CURSES! I like my SMG, dammit! I thought it WAS one-handed. I guess that also explains why I can’t shoot it from my jet pack…
Legolamb - do the Ambulance missions in a small town like Angel Pines. I did it there and finished easily on my second try - I would have done it on my first try, but I accidentally hit R3 and cancelled the mission :smack:
Man, I got stuck for several days on “High Noon”, where you have to kill
Officer Pulaski
as he drives like a madman around the desert. That car was freaking indestructable. I hit it with an RPG, I attached satchel charges…one thing after another. Nothing worked. I finally lucked out and he got stuck long enough to empty my gun into him in a driveby. I still nearly died. I’m glad that’s over with.
