Vote Democratic, Vote American
“A meal on every table, money in every pocket”
“With equality and justice for all”
Really like that last one, which means its probably too radical.
Give the devil their due; have you got any evidence that the greater electorate is determining their vote on any other qualification?
“If the punters want apples, then sell 'em apples.
If you can’t get apples buy oranges and paint 'em green.”
I think if the Dems want to win, they need to launch a variety of slogans. Use slightly different (regional or state appropriate) versions/riffs on the same theme. Trump’s appeal was to America as a whole; it’s a very bland, very universal message; vague.
There’s a sense of Federalism in the air as of late. Look at how the States are openly defying the Federal Government for the first time in years. The Democrats right now are a broken party. They don’t even hold much power at the state level. They need to rebuild. The way to do that is to first rebrand at the state level. Offer differing riffs on the same vision in a way that aligns with such and such’s state’s overall mood/sentiment/history. Personalize the Democratic Party.
To defeat the portrayal of the party as a corrupt, elitist, aloof, distant organization run by donors, make it feel intimate, sell it as the party that is for YOU. Tailor that message accordingly to appeal to each individual you in varying states or regions. The Republicans appeal to a “silent majority” in broad generalities. Let’s appeal to the individual and collective American on his and her own terms.
To appeal to the Baby Boomers, we can use nostalgia. Remind them that it was the party of Franklin Roosevelt, Harry S. Truman, and John F. Kennedy who won the war, brought the peace, and created the prosperity that they grew up in and so long for. Reconnect with that old Liberal sentiment that was solidly aimed at the working class American - as of late, Liberalism has become too Ivy League, too intelligent, too elitist - the same problem Adlai Stevenson suffered from.
To appeal to Millenials, don’t pull out celebrities and try to be hip. It comes off as cringy and desperate. I’m a Millenial. We don’t care so much about IPods and Madonna offering us blowjobs if we vote for Hillary - we care about how we’re going to get a job, build a steady career, pay off student loans, and make that degree that cost so much be worth something. Focus on that.
On racial matters, do not swing to either extreme of the discussion. Take the position of the sensible centrist; Neither be the timid Roy Wilkins, nor the polarizing Malcolm X. Be MLK.
Also, leave Hillary out of any and all marketing unless you want to continue losing.

If we want to appeal to the Silent Generation, which is very hard, we can offer up the old image of the Democratic Party as the scrappy fighter. Make the old folks remember “Give 'Em Hell Harry” - the scruffy, midwestern Democratic Party that they probably first voted for years ago.
To the Rust Belt and Coal Industry - don’t lie and sell them false promises, but don’t also sell them a depressing message that their lives, and the identity they and their forefather have had is over. Offer them a vision of the future that includes them in new ways, that respects the hard work of their fathers and grandfathers. “Your fathers, grandfathers and great grandfathers built this country’s industrial power in the Mines, with their hands. America now needs you, the proud sons and daughters of those miners, to help us build America again in new ways. Others will tell you your way of life is dying. Nonsense. This is just the beginning of a brand new day.”
On racial matters, do not swing to either extreme of the discussion. Take the position of the sensible centrist; Neither be the timid Roy Wilkins, nor the polarizing Malcolm X. Be MLK. Offer a broad vision of peace that is broad enough to offend neither colored nor non-colored. And then once in power, implement actual solutions.
Also, leave Hillary out of any and all marketing unless you want to continue losing.
In 2016, we made the election about the candidate: “I’m with her”. We need to make the next few elections about the PEOPLE - for they are who truly matter.
I would even leave out Trump completely in any messaging; the man is a genius at making it all about him and taking attacks as empowering.
He rallies twice his strength each time he hits the earth: isolate him from that earth like Antaeus without the succour of free publicity and he will be less intimidating. Simply concentrate on the good things the Democrats can at least promise, if like Donald himself, they cannot perform.
Peace, offending neither colored nor non-colored.
I like it. It’s got a certain air of nostalgia about it. And completely inoffensive!!
“LGBTQIAPK, POC, womyn, minorities of all kinds, we’re for you! And you, white “cis” male, of course. We’re for you too! As long as you check your privilege.”
Hm. Maybe a bit too long to fit on a bumper sticker.

Prefix of Benevolent Overlords entirely optional.
OK, flip it.
For All America.
Sounds good…just underline “All.”
I like that. I was thinking “America for Us All”, which is similar but perhaps avoids being misread as inviting increased immigration.
Plus it has “US A” in it.
AMERICA for US ALL
The Democrats need to regain ground they’ve lost among the working class, without abandoning their role as the party that cares about minorities. I think this slogan works for both. The point is, right now America under GOP leadership is working well for the rich elites, but it’s not working well for the laid-off factory worker who can’t find a decent job in the new economy, and it’s not working for the folks who are sick and can’t afford decent health care, and it’s not working for Black Americans who worry the police are more likely to shoot them than to protect and serve them. The key is to persuade enough of those folks that they’re on the same team – not as the Black team or the White team, not as the rural team or the urban team, but as the majority whose needs have been neglected by the people in power. The Democrats lose if the narrative is “working class whites vs. minorities”, but they win if the narrative is “Government that only helps the rich get even richer, vs. government that works to support all Americans.”
Brilliant!
But the scary thing is that too many progressives and Democrats would take your suggesstion seriously.
“…And Justice For All!” We could get Metallica to play at the convention.
America for All
except , you know, those people.

Stand Together
By the next election, a lot of Americans are going to be heartily sick of the divisiveness of the current political climate. A message of unity and strength will resonate. And hey - it combines the best aspects of diversity and fascism, so it’s a win-win!
I think the Republicans have already trademarked that one.
