So what's up or down with the MIR?

Reading the different pages on the MIR, I can’t decide if they are going to crash it in the next couple months or not. Most likely yes.

I’ve been in the third of the three core modules built by the USSR. It resides at Robot World in Wisconsin Dells. It is very disorinting inside, Built for weightlessness. It made my brother and I sick just to be in there. You lose your sense of balance, and can’t stand up straight. A cylinder where nothing visable is up or down.

Here’s a link if you’re interested. http://www.wisdells.com/tommybartlett/robotw.htm

So, will it be taken out of orbit in the next few months or not?

I’m only your wildest fear, from the corners of your darkest thoughts.

The Russian government has approved its operation through August. They claim to have gotten funding from foreign sources, though most people believe that this also involves channeling hardware and money from the International Space Station. I hear Walt Anderson has expressed interest in investing in Mir. An unmanned supply ship was sent to Mir last week to prepare the station for a crew to arrive in March. They alluded to the possibility of including a movie actor in the next crew, but who knows.

Most of this info I got off ClariNet so I can’t post the originals, but generally http://www.space.com/ has pretty good coverage. CNN’s web site is pretty good too.

I read an article in our newspaper about some wealthy american who is going to give the russians funding to keep Mir in place so that it may be used for a very exotic getaway for the rich.
